Do you need to add water to this battery or maintain it?
No, never. It is a valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery with 6 AGM cells, fully sealed and maintenance-free. The case and lid are made of ABS, the terminals of copper and the safety valve of rubber: no filling, no level checks.
How long does the HR09122F battery last depending on the power drawn?
It all depends on the load. At 25 °C and 1.67 V per cell, it delivers 34.30 W per cell for 15 minutes, 11.78 W over 1 hour and 3.99 W over 4 hours. Conversely, for a peak of only 5 minutes, it rises to 60.15 W per cell: the lower the power drawn, the longer the runtime.
What is the real service life of this UPS battery?
On permanent charge in a UPS, its float service life reaches 9 years at 25 °C. In cyclic use, that is, full discharges followed by recharges, it is rated for more than 260 cycles at 100% depth of discharge.
How can I tell whether it will fit in my UPS?
Measure the compartment before ordering: it measures 151 × 65 × 94 mm, or 98 mm high including terminals, and weighs 2.68 kg. The terminals are F2 (T2) Faston Tab 250 and the nominal voltage is 12 V. These are the three points to check: dimensions, terminal type and voltage.
Can it be used somewhere other than in a UPS?
Yes. It is designed for alarm and security systems, cable television, communication equipment, power tools, control equipment, medical equipment, UPSs and toys. Its high-rate discharge capability suits devices that draw a lot of current at once.
Does its capacity drop when it is cold or very hot?
Yes, markedly. Its reference capacity is given at 25 °C: it reaches 102% at 40 °C, falls to 85% at 0 °C and to 65% at −15 °C. Install it in a temperate room — it is the cold, far more than the heat, that cuts the runtime.
How long can it be stored before being put into service?
Its self-discharge is 2% of capacity per month at 25 °C: it keeps well in storage. Fully sealed and maintenance-free, it requires no level checks while in storage.
What voltage should I charge it at if I use an external charger?
In standby use, the charging voltage is 13.5 to 13.8 V at 25 °C; in cyclic use, 14.4 to 15.0 V with a maximum current of 2.7 A. These values are corrected by −20 mV/°C in float use and −30 mV/°C in cyclic use.
What makes it suitable for a sudden power cut?
Its internal resistance is less than or equal to 23 mΩ when fully charged at 25 °C, which allows high-rate discharge: it delivers a lot of power over a short time, exactly what a UPS demands at the moment of a power cut.
Is the battery new and under warranty?
Yes, new and supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. The model is CE and RoHS compliant. The full discharge curves and detailed specifications are given in the datasheet (PDF).
