Are the LS1210P's 8 PoE+ ports Gigabit?
No: the 8 PoE+ ports are 10/100 Mbps. Only the 2 unpowered uplinks are Gigabit. This is the point to check before connecting very high-definition cameras: 100 Mbps is enough for several video streams, but the port will go no faster.
What PoE budget does this switch offer, and for how many cameras?
96 W in total, up to 30 W per port, to the 802.3af and 802.3at standards. Six 15 W cameras still leave some headroom; eight 25 W Wi-Fi access points exceed the budget. The manufacturer states that this budget is measured in the laboratory and varies with the devices and the environment.
Does Extend mode really reach 250 m?
Yes, on ports 1 to 8, but the speed then drops to 10 Mbps. That is the trade-off to be aware of: the range triples, the speed is divided. The actual distance also depends on the power draw of the powered device and the quality of the cable. Enough for an isolated camera, not for an uplink.
Can traffic be separated between ports without knowing how to configure a VLAN?
Yes, with Isolation mode, which can be switched on in one move for ports 1 to 8: the connected devices can no longer see each other and communicate only with the uplink. It is the simple answer to separating cameras or guest workstations on an unmanaged switch.
What happens if a powered camera stops responding?
PoE Auto Recovery restarts the device by cutting and then restoring power to the port, on ports 1 to 8. A frozen camera therefore comes back on its own, with no site visit, which makes it this model's most useful feature on a spread-out CCTV installation.
How is the LS1210P powered, and how much does it consume?
Through an external power adapter rated 53.5 V at 1.92 A, supplied with the switch: make sure there is a socket nearby and room for the adapter. Consumption rises to 99.52 W with the full 96 W of PoE in use, with a heat dissipation of 338 BTU/h. The case is fanless, and therefore silent.
Where can this switch be installed, and how much space does it take up?
On a desk or mounted on the wall: the case measures 171 × 98 × 27 mm, the size of a thick paperback. It operates from 0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity (non-condensing), and the stated mean time between failures reaches 323,718 hours at 25 °C.
What internal performance does this 10-port model offer?
5.6 Gbps switching capacity and 4.17 Mpps in store-and-forward mode, with a 2,000-entry MAC address table and a 2 Mbit buffer. Jumbo frames are limited to 2 KB. Cabling follows the usual rules: Category 5e for Gigabit, 100 m maximum per link.
Is the switch new, and where can I find its datasheet?
