This product is covered for 1 year by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

Frequently asked questions about this product

What does the GWN7700M's 2.5 Gbps offer compared with a Gigabit switch?
The five ports negotiate 100, 1,000 or 2,500 Mbps depending on the connected device: a Wi-Fi 6 access point or a multi-gigabit NAS can finally go beyond the Gigabit ceiling over a simple copper cable. The gain only shows if the device at the other end also runs at 2.5 Gbps.
What is this switch's SFP+ port for?
For a fibre uplink to the network core, at 1 or 10 Gbps depending on the optical module inserted. This avoids funnelling five 2.5 Gbps ports into a single copper output. The module is not in the box, which contains the switch, its power adapter and the quick start guide.
Can this model power devices over PoE?
No: the GWN7700M has no PoE ports. It is its twin, the GWN7700MP, that powers four ports at up to 30 W each within a 57 W budget. On the 7700M, every camera or access point connected therefore needs its own power supply.
Can VLANs be configured on the GWN7700M?
No: it is an unmanaged switch, with no configuration interface. It works as soon as it is plugged in and needs no settings. To segment into VLANs, monitor or prioritise traffic precisely, you need a managed model; here, the 802.1p/DSCP strict priority mechanism works on its own.
How does this switch protect the network from broadcast storms?
Storm control monitors broadcast, multicast and unicast traffic, with a threshold fixed at 100 Mbps; it cannot be adjusted, since the switch is unmanaged. IGMP snooping, with Fast-Leave and router port learning, also avoids flooding every port.
Do jumbo frames pass through this multi-gigabit switch?
Yes, up to 9 KB, which speeds up large transfers to a NAS. The MAC address table holds 4,000 entries with automatic learning and ageing, and switching capacity reaches 45 Gbps, enough for the five 2.5G ports and the 10G link to work together.
How is the GWN7700M powered, and how much does it consume?
Through an external 12 V, 1 A power adapter, supplied with the switch: make sure there is a socket nearby. Maximum consumption for the base system is 7 W, and the IEEE 802.3az standard reduces power further during quiet periods.
Where can this switch be installed, and is it noisy?
On a desk or mounted on the wall: the metal case measures 145 × 80 × 27 mm, barely more than a smartphone lying flat, and runs fanless, and therefore silently. It handles 0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity (non-condensing).
Is a crossover cable needed to connect this switch to another one?
No: automatic MDI/MDIX is present on all ports and corrects the pinout on its own, whether the cable is straight-through or crossover. Cabling must, however, meet 2.5GBASE-T requirements to sustain the stated speed, and 802.3x flow control limits losses when the link is saturated.
Is the switch new, and where can I find its datasheet?
