Can the LS1024G be configured or segmented into VLANs?
No: it is an unmanaged switch, with no configuration interface. It works as soon as it is plugged in, with no settings or maintenance. To create VLANs, monitor ports or apply security rules, you need to move to a managed model.
Can this 24-port switch be rack-mounted, and is the kit included?
Yes, the rack-mount kits come with the switch, along with the power cable, the installation guide and the rubber feet. The metal case measures 294 × 140 × 44 mm: it sits just as well on a shelf as in a shallow cabinet.
Is the LS1024G noisy in a shared room?
It has no fan at all: the metal case dissipates the heat on its own, which eliminates the noise and the most common wear part. It operates from 0 to 45 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity (non-condensing), a comfortable margin in a wiring closet without air conditioning.
Does this switch need an external power adapter?
No: the power supply is built in and accepts 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, 0.6 A. A simple power cable is all it takes, which avoids a bulky adapter in the rack. Consumption peaks at 12.6 W, measured at 110 V/60 Hz, with a heat dissipation of 42.77 BTU/h.
Are voice and video given priority on the LS1024G?
Yes, built-in quality of service prioritises sensitive traffic (telephony and video) without any configuration at all. The switch operates in store-and-forward mode, which discards damaged frames before relaying them to the other ports.
What type of cable is needed to run the 24 ports at Gigabit speed?
Category 5e cable or higher for 1000BASE-T; Category 5 is enough for 100 Mbps and Categories 3 to 5 for 10 Mbps. Each port negotiates on its own and corrects the pinout with automatic MDI/MDIX: a straight-through cable works everywhere, including between two switches.
What internal performance does this 24-port switch offer?
48 Gbps switching capacity and a 35.712 Mpps forwarding rate, with an 8,000-entry MAC address table: all 24 Gigabit links can work at the same time. Jumbo frames go up to 10 KB, and green technology reduces the consumption of idle ports.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
