8-port Gigabit unmanaged switch, compact, to add network sockets to an office or a room with no configuration at all.
The RG-ES08G-L offers 8 RJ45 10/100/1000 Mbps ports with non-blocking switching at 16 Gbps / 11.9 Mpps and a 4,000-entry MAC table. The plastic desktop casing is completely silent: no fan, no moving parts, maintenance-free continuous operation. Plug-and-play: plug it in and the switch works straight away. 4 kV surge protection on every port.
When a Ruijie managed switch is on the network, the RG-ES08G-L shows up read-only in Ruijie Cloud for network-wide visibility with no extra configuration.

Does the RG-ES08G-L need configuring, or does it work out of the box?
Out of the box: it is an unmanaged switch, with no interface and no app. No VLANs, no port settings, no updates to worry about — it starts switching as soon as it is powered on. To segment or monitor a network, you need to move up to a managed model.
Does this small switch show up in Ruijie Cloud monitoring?
Yes, read-only, provided at least one Ruijie managed switch is present on the network: it then appears in the site topology. You can see it, but you cannot configure it — this is visibility for troubleshooting, not management.
What is the actual power consumption of this 8-port switch?
About 3.47 W, powered by an external 5 V, 1 A adapter — a 5 W unit, comparable to a phone charger. Plan for a power outlet nearby: the power supply is not built into the case.
How much space does the RG-ES08G-L take up, and where should it be installed?
The plastic case measures 124 × 60 × 24 mm and weighs about 104 grams: it slips behind a monitor, into a drawer or onto a wall mount, depending on the accessories in the pack. Fanless, it makes no noise and does not draw in dust.
Do you need a crossover cable to daisy-chain this switch to another one?
No: all eight ports support auto MDI/MDIX and correct the pinout on their own, whether the cable is straight-through or crossover. Auto-negotiation detects 10, 100 or 1,000 Mbps and switches to full or half duplex depending on the connected device.
What performance can you expect from a switch of this size?
16 Gbps of switching capacity and 11.9 Mpps, with a 4,000-entry MAC address table: all eight ports can run at Gigabit speed simultaneously without blocking. That is enough for an office, a meeting room or a cluster of IP cameras.
Can this model withstand power surges and the heat of a wiring closet?
Each port has 4 kV surge protection. The switch operates from 0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity (non-condensing), and at altitudes of up to 5,000 m. With no moving parts, it requires no particular maintenance.
