What does a complete video surveillance system consist of?
Of five building blocks, and each one constrains the others. The cameras (IP or analogue); the recorder — an NVR for IP cameras, a DVR for analogue — for which you must check the number of channels, the maximum resolution accepted and the number of drive bays; the hard drive, which must be designed for continuous writing; the network and the power supply, that is a PoE switch or a PoE injector and the cabling; and finally the electrical protection, with a UPS. Do you fit the cameras on site?
No. iris.ma is an equipment supplier: we sell, we advise on the choice and on compatibility, then we deliver anywhere in Morocco. The fitting, the cable runs and the on-site set-up are carried out by you or by the installer of your choice. That said, describe the site to us — number of entrances to cover, distances, indoors or outdoors, how long you want to keep the recordings — and we will draw up the complete equipment list: request a quote, answer within 24 working hours.
IP camera or analogue camera: which one should I choose?
For a new set-up, IP over PoE: a single network cable per camera carries both the video and the power, the resolutions go higher and the image analysis (person and vehicle detection, line crossing) is built into the camera. Analogue remains the right choice when the building is already wired in coaxial cable: you replace the cameras and the recorder without pulling out a single metre of cable. The two cannot be mixed on the same recorder, unless it is a hybrid model explicitly advertised as such.
How much drive capacity for how many days of recording?
The usual order of magnitude is 25 to 40 GB per camera per day at 4 MP and 15 frames per second, recording continuously — far less if recording is triggered by detection. Four cameras kept for a fortnight therefore call for around 2 TB. Choose a hard drive intended for video surveillance: it is built to write around the clock, where an office drive gives up after a few months. For large volumes or centralised archiving, a NAS server takes over.
Do I need a PoE switch, and of what power?
PoE becomes necessary as soon as the cameras are IP and no mains socket is provided where they sit. Many NVRs already include PoE ports: up to eight cameras, that is often enough. Beyond that, or if the cameras are far from the recorder, go through a PoE switch. The point to check is not the number of ports but the overall PoE budget quoted (65 W, 120 W and so on): a fixed camera draws 4 to 12 W, a motorised or heated camera considerably more. For a single camera, a PoE injector is enough.
Can the cameras be viewed from a phone?
Yes: every camera and every recorder we list can be viewed remotely from the manufacturer’s mobile app, once connected to the internet. Indoor Wi-Fi cameras are set up in a few minutes and record onto a microSD card; a system built around a recorder also keeps the full history locally, which remains the only usable evidence if something happens.
What does Moroccan law say about video surveillance?
Images of identifiable people are personal data within the meaning of Law 09-08, whose application is overseen by the CNDP: prior declaration of the processing, signage informing the people being filmed, a purpose limited to security, a field of view restricted to your own property, a limited retention period, restricted access, and a ban on filming toilets and changing rooms. These obligations change over time: check them with the CNDP before commissioning. Our video surveillance guide sets out the settings that go with them.
Delivery, payment, warranty and quotes: how does it work?
Delivery within 1 to 5 working days anywhere in Morocco — Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Agadir, Fez and beyond — or free collection from our Témara shop. Payment by bank card (secure payment through Attijari Payment), on delivery or by bank transfer. All the equipment is new and covered by the official manufacturer warranty, valid in Morocco. Companies receive an invoice in their name, with their ICE, enclosed with the parcel, and can request a quote — answer within 24 working hours, with a complete file for a tender on the business area.

Video surveillance equipment supplier in Morocco

iris.ma lists the whole surveillance chain: IP and Wi-Fi cameras for indoors as well as for outdoors, analogue cameras for buildings that are already wired, NVR and DVR recorders, from UNV, TP-Link, Holowits, Bosch, Uniarch and Hikvision. Everything that holds a system together, and that people forget to buy

Half the systems that disappoint are not let down by their cameras. A recorder fitted with an office drive stops after a few months: it needs a drive designed for continuous writing, or a NAS server to centralise several sites. IP cameras far from the recorder call for a PoE switch with a large enough power budget, a PoE injector for an isolated point, and good quality network cable. A rack cabinet puts the recorder and the switch out of reach — the first move of a seasoned burglar is to walk off with the recorder. Finally, a UPS stops a power cut from creating a blind spot lasting several hours, and a dedicated monitor turns the guard post into a genuine control room.

From the home to the industrial site, with invoice and quote

For a flat or a small shop, two to four Wi-Fi cameras recording onto a microSD card are often enough, and they go up without cabling. For a shop, an agency or a school, you move on to IP cameras over PoE and an NVR, keeping fifteen to thirty days of recordings. For a warehouse, a building site or a multi-building estate, the sizing is done entrance by entrance. In every case, send us your requirement: answer within 24 working hours, a costed equipment list, an invoice in your company’s name with its ICE.
