The Aruba Instant On 1430 8G is an ultra-compact plug-and-play switch that brings Gigabit wired connectivity to an office, reception area or meeting room, with no network configuration or IT intervention.
8 Gigabit RJ45 ports to connect workstations, printers, NAS devices and other peripherals at full 1,000 Mbps speed. No PoE ports: a pure network switch that does not power connected devices.
Unmanaged (Plug & Play): plug in the power cable and the switch is up and running immediately — no web interface, no password to set.
Silent, fanless operation, suited to noise-sensitive spaces. Powered by an external power adapter, 12 W maximum power consumption.

Can the Instant On 1430 8G be configured?
No: it is an unmanaged switch. No web interface, no password to set, no VLANs — you plug in the power cable and it switches traffic. To segment or monitor a network, you need a managed model.
Does this model power devices over PoE?
No: model number R8R45A has no PoE ports. Every connected device — Wi-Fi access point, camera, IP phone — must have its own power supply. The PoE models in the 1430 series offer 64 W on 8 ports and 124 W on 16 ports.
How is this switch powered?
By an external AC adapter, with maximum power consumption of 12 W and around 1 W at idle. Make sure there is a free power outlet near where it will be installed: on this compact format, the power supply is not built into the unit.
Does this switch make any noise in an office?
None: it is fanless, with fully passive cooling. It handles 0 to 40 °C and 15 to 95% non-condensing humidity, and operates at altitudes of up to 3 km — a reception area, a meeting room or a wiring closet all suit it.
Do you need a crossover cable to connect two switches?
No: all eight ports support automatic MDI/MDI-X and correct the pinout on their own. Auto-negotiation detects 10, 100 or 1,000 Mbps; Gigabit works in full duplex only, while 10 and 100 Mbps also accept half duplex.
Does this switch let 802.1X authentication through?
Yes: 802.1X EAPOL frames are forwarded, so a computer connected behind it authenticates with the managed switch upstream. BPDU frames also pass through, which lets spanning tree detect loops above it.
Are voice and video prioritised without any configuration?
Yes. Quality of service recognises packets tagged with DSCP or IEEE 802.1p and sends them ahead of the rest of the traffic, with no intervention needed. Flow control limits packet loss when a network node is congested.
What performance can you expect from this compact model?
16 Gbps of switching capacity, 11.9 Mpps and an 8,192-entry MAC address table, with latency below 1.80 µs at Gigabit speed. Jumbo frames go up to 9,216 bytes, which helps with transfers to an office NAS.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
