How many pages can you print with the ink supplied in the box?
It comes with four 65 ml bottles (black, cyan, yellow, magenta) plus an extra black bottle, for a stated yield of 6,400 pages in monochrome or 5,600 pages in colour. The four tanks are refilled separately: you only top up the colour that has run out.
Do you have to buy replacement print heads, as with a cartridge printer?
No: the print head is fixed, and this printer uses no cartridges at all — you only buy ink bottles. It has 400 nozzles for black and 128 per colour, with droplets down to 3.3 pl, and uses dye-based ink for all four colours.
Does the Epson L11050 offer automatic duplex printing?
No, duplex printing is manual: you have to turn the paper stack over yourself between the two passes. On a long print run, this is a step to plan for.
How do you refill the ink tanks, and can you mix up the colours?
The four tanks are at the front, directly accessible for refilling without moving the printer. The bottles have a keyed nozzle that prevents you from pouring a colour into the wrong tank. The printer, however, has no control screen.
Can it be connected to the office network via Ethernet?
No, there is no Ethernet port. It connects via Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct or USB. As for operating systems, it is recognised from Windows XP to Windows 10, on Server editions, and by macOS from 10.6.8 onwards.
How many sheets does it hold, and can you run a large print job unattended?
The input tray takes 100 sheets, but the output tray only holds 30: on a 100-page print run, you have to clear the stack partway through. There is only one input tray: alternating between an A3 job and an A4 job means reloading it in between.
What paper sizes and types does it accept, beyond A3?
A3, A4, A5, A6, B6 and DL and No. 10 envelopes, on paper weights from 64 to 300 g/m²: it takes plain paper as readily as thick media. It supports borderless printing, useful for an A3 poster or visual.
What real-world speed can you expect on an office document?
Two figures coexist: 30 pages/min in black and 20 in colour in fast mode on plain paper, versus 15 and 8 pages/min according to the ISO/IEC 24734 standard, which is closer to a real office document. It is this second figure you should use when comparing with another printer. The resolution remains 4,800 × 1,200 dpi in both black and colour.
Does it use a lot of electricity for an A3 printer?
No: 16 W when printing, 4.2 W ready, 0.8 W in sleep mode and 0.3 W switched off, for a typical consumption of 0.18 kWh per week. It plugs directly into 220-240 V, 50-60 Hz mains.
Will an A3 printer fit on a desk?
Yes: 498 × 358 × 165 mm and 6.4 kg, for a machine that prints up to A3. Its 165 mm height lets it fit under a shelf, and it sits on a standard worktop without dedicated furniture.
Is the printer new, and what exactly is in the box?
Yes, new and sealed in its original packaging. The box contains the printer, the five ink bottles, the power cable, the drivers and utilities CD, the setup instructions and the warranty document. The invoice serves as the 1-year warranty document. It carries the manufacturer reference C11CK39403.
