Which toner fits the Canon i-SENSYS LBP621Cw?

A cartridge in a single unit

It is the question that comes up on every colour laser: does a drum have to be planned for on top of the toners? On some machines, yes — the photosensitive cylinder is a separate part there, often rated at ten times a toner's yield, and it goes forgotten until the day prints start streaking.

On the LBP621Cw, no. Canon builds the 054 as a single unit: drum, roller and powder are brought together in the same block, so every toner replacement brings a new cylinder. This machine's consumables list stops at the four cartridges — there is nothing else to budget for, and nothing else to watch.

A practical corollary: replacement needs no technician. You open the cover, take the used block out, put the new one in. No adjustment, no part to align.

054 or 054H: the same machine, two levels of autonomy

Canon offers the series in a high-capacity 054H version: 3,100 pages in black and 2,300 per colour, about double the standard 054 on all four shades. The choice is made on volume, never on compatibility: both versions fit the same machine.

A printer, not a multifunction

At Canon, LBP means a printer on its own and MF a multifunction. The LBP621Cw prints, and that is all: no scanner, no copier. It nonetheless shares its 054 toners with the MF641Cw, MF643Cdw, MF645Cx and the LBP623Cdw.

The difference shows in consumption, not in the part number to order: everything that comes out of an LBP was sent from a workstation or a phone, whereas a multifunction also uses toner through copying, with no computer keeping a record.
