Frequently asked questions about this product

Which printers does this HP 89A toner fit?
The HP LaserJet Enterprise M507 printer series and the HP LaserJet Enterprise M528 multifunction printer series. As these families include several very similar variants, check the full model number shown on the front of your machine before ordering.
Is this toner sized for my monthly print volume?
It is aimed at workgroups of 3 to 10 users printing between 750 and 3,500 pages per month, with a yield of 5,000 pages. At the top of that range, a cartridge lasts about a month and a half; much longer with moderate use.
Is there a longer-lasting version for the same printer?
Yes. The 89X goes up to 10,000 pages and the 89Y to 20,000 pages, compared with 5,000 pages for this 89A. These high-yield versions are not supplied with the printer and are sold separately.
What exactly do the quoted 5,000 pages correspond to?
To an approximate average yield measured according to the ISO/IEC 19752 standard. Actual yield varies considerably with the content printed: very dense pages or solid black areas use significantly more toner than a letter or a standard invoice.
Is this toner protected against counterfeit cartridges?
Yes: it is a genuine HP toner, part number CF289A, and genuine HP toners feature exclusive anti-fraud technology, designed to protect businesses from counterfeiting and to maintain the same level of quality across an entire printer fleet.
Does the choice of toner affect the printer's power consumption?
Yes. This is an HP EcoSmart black toner with JetIntelligence, which uses less energy than earlier toner versions without JetIntelligence, based on the Energy Star methodology. That matters when the printer runs all day.
Can you tell in advance when it will need replacing?
Yes. HP toners with JetIntelligence provide smart toner level tracking and trigger an alert when a new cartridge is needed. Across a fleet, HP Web Jetadmin lets you monitor consumption and order before you run out.
What should I do with the cartridge once it is empty?
It can be recycled free of charge through the HP Planet Partners programme, whose availability may vary by country.
Is the toner new and under warranty?
Yes: a new original HP LaserJet toner (part no. CF289A), supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. HP covers this product for parts and labour under its Premium Protection Warranty; details in the datasheet (PDF).
