What proves that this power strip really protects against surges?
Its design complies with the international standard IEC 61643-11: tested with a 1.2/50 µs impulse at 6 kV, it lets through a residual voltage of less than 1.5 kV only. Its total clamping capacity reaches 18,000 A (3 varistors of 6,000 A each) for 525 joules dissipated, with a response time of under one nanosecond.
How can you tell whether the protection is still active after a storm?
An indicator light continuously shows the status of the surge protection module: that is what you should check after a lightning strike. A built-in 10 A circuit breaker completes the set-up in the event of an overload on the installation.
Does the PB6F have USB ports for charging a phone?
The PB6F offers 6 French outlets dedicated to protecting your devices. It is the 6 USB, 6 USB Tel@ and 8 USB Tel@ versions of the Protection Box range that add two 2.4 A USB ports for charging mobile devices. Here, all six outlets therefore remain fully available for the devices you want to protect.
Does it also protect the phone line or the internet box?
The PB6F protects the power line. Protection of the RJ11/xDSL data line, compliant with the IEC 61643-21 standard, is provided by the Tel@ models in the range (1 Tel@, 6 USB Tel@, 8 USB Tel@), designed for internet gateways. An internet box plugged into the PB6F is protected on the mains side, but its data line is not.
How many devices can I safely plug into it?
The limit is the total power drawn: 10 A, i.e. 2,500 W across all six outlets, at 220-250 V 50/60 Hz. Beyond that, the built-in 10 A circuit breaker trips to protect the installation — what counts is the sum of everything plugged in, not the number of outlets in use.
Can it be mounted on a wall or under a desk?
Yes. Wall mounting is provided on all Protection Box models except the PB1, so the PB6F has its own mounting system. The 1.5 m cord leaves some slack to reach the wall socket once the unit is fixed in place.
Does Eaton's connected equipment warranty apply in Morocco?
No: this free Eaton warranty on connected devices, which covers damage caused by a failure of the surge protection, applies only in European Union countries and Norway. What you benefit from here is cover for the unit itself, on a standard-exchange basis.
Which devices really benefit from being plugged into it?
Eaton designed it for computers and their peripherals, TV, video and hi-fi equipment (home cinema, DVD recorders, digital set-top boxes), xDSL internet modems and household appliances. In other words, anything whose electronic board costs more than the power strip.
Are the outlets French-standard, and is the product certified?
Yes: French-standard (FR) outlets, reference PB6F, with CE, EAC and CM markings. In terms of safety, the unit meets the IEC 61884-1, IEC 61643-11, IEC/EN 61000-6-1 and 61000-6-3, NF C61-314 and VDE standards. The versions with Schuko outlets carry the reference PB6D.
Is the unit new, and how long is it covered?
It is new and covered for 2 years, on a standard-exchange basis, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. Full details of the clamping performance and standards are given in the datasheet (PDF).
