Frequently asked questions about this product

How many memory slots does the TUF F16 have, and how far can it be upgraded?
Two DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM slots, accessible and user-upgradeable, accepting up to 32 GB per slot. The machine starts at 16 GB and can therefore go up to 64 GB, with memory and storage explicitly designed to stay open to upgrades.
Is there a free M.2 slot left for a second SSD?
Yes, a second M.2 slot remains free next to the factory-installed 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Each slot accepts up to 2 TB at PCIe Gen 4, for 4 TB of expandable storage: your game library can grow without replacing the system drive.
Is the display matte or glossy, and is the 165 Hz synchronised?
Matte, thanks to an anti-glare coating, on a 16-inch WUXGA 1920 × 1200 panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio — taller than 16:9, so more lines are displayed outside games. The 165 Hz is backed by G-Sync, and the panel reaches 300 nits while covering 100% of sRGB.
Can the TUF F16 be charged over USB-C?
Yes, the USB-C port supports Power Delivery 3.0 at 20 V/5 A — useful when the charger has been left at home. The 90 Wh battery regains 50% in 30 minutes, and the supplied adapter is a 280 W unit with a rectangular tip.
How much power is actually allocated to the GeForce RTX 5070?
115 W TGP, with 8 GB of dedicated GDDR7: this figure, as much as the name of the card, is what you should compare from one laptop to another. Added to this are DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, full ray tracing and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus.
How does the F16 handle heat during a long gaming session?
With two 2nd-generation Arc Flow fans and a full-width heatsink. The Armoury Crate software brings performance and lighting profiles together in one place, and its Scenario Profiles switch them automatically when a game or an application is launched.
Can the RGB keyboard backlighting be set key by key?
No: the RGB backlighting is single-zone, so the colour applies to the whole keyboard, not key by key. On the other hand, the keyboard is a full-size French AZERTY layout with a numeric keypad, with 1.7 mm of key travel, N-Key Rollover and keys rated for 20 million keystrokes.
What exactly does the military-grade durability claimed for the TUF range cover?
A series of demanding tests based on the MIL-STD-810H standard: drops, vibration, humidity and extreme temperatures. It is the condition for an Asus laptop to carry the TUF name, and it is aimed at the accidental knocks and bumps of use on the move.
Which ports can be used to connect one or more external monitors?
Three video outputs: one HDMI 2.1 FRL, one Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gbps, DisplayPort) and one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps, DisplayPort and G-Sync). There are also three 10 Gbps USB-A ports and one Gigabit RJ45 port: enough to set it up as a desktop workstation without a docking station.
Can I sign in without typing a password?
Yes. The webcam is a 1080p unit with an infrared sensor compatible with Windows Hello: facial recognition unlocks the session. It also serves for Full HD video conferencing, backed by the array microphone and AI noise reduction.
Is Wi-Fi enough for online gaming, or do you need to run a cable?
Both options are available: tri-band 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E, complemented by TAS technology, which stabilises the signal far from the router, and a built-in Gigabit RJ45 port for a wired connection when latency really matters. Bluetooth is version 5.4.
Is the sound usable without headphones, and does the mic filter out noise?
Two speakers driven by Dolby Atmos deliver virtual 5.1.2 surround sound with preset modes for films and games; with headphones, the jack output is Hi-Res Audio certified. Two-way AI noise reduction processes both incoming and outgoing audio and runs on the processor, so as not to take resources from the GPU.
Is this 16-inch laptop portable enough for everyday use?
2.20 kg for 35.4 × 26.9 cm and a thickness of 1.79 to 2.73 cm, plus the 280 W power adapter, which is nothing like a pocket charger. It is a gaming machine you move from time to time, not an ultraportable.
Is this Asus TUF F16 new and under warranty?
Yes: the machine is new and sealed, in Jaeger Gray, part number 90NR0NG1-M00440, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 2 years. Make a note of this part number: it is what identifies the exact configuration (RTX 5070, 16 GB, 1 TB) with after-sales service.
