Frequently asked questions about this product

How many memory slots are free, and how far can the memory be upgraded?
The LOQ 15IRX9 has two DDR5 SODIMM slots and uses only one, fitted with a 16 GB DDR5-4800 module: one slot remains free. The maximum supported is 32 GB, and a second module enables dual-channel mode, which the machine can take advantage of.
Can a second SSD be added without removing the original one?
Yes. The machine has two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots and uses only one, with a 512 GB SSD in the M.2 2242 form factor. It accepts two drives, up to 1 TB each: you can double the storage without touching the existing Windows installation.
Is the RTX 3050 in this LOQ power-limited?
It runs at a 95 W TGP, with 6 GB of GDDR6, a Boost clock of 1,732 MHz and 142 AI TOPS. TGP is the figure that sets apart two laptops that both advertise the same RTX 3050: it is the power budget actually allocated to the graphics processor.
Can it be charged over USB-C, or is the 170 W adapter required?
Both work. The 10 Gbps USB-C port accepts Lenovo Power Delivery charging up to 140 W, handy on the move with a compact charger, while still handling data transfers at full speed. The supplied adapter is a 170 W Slim Tip, 3-pin unit.
Is the display matte, and what does G-SYNC do?
The 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel is anti-glare — no mirror effect under a lamp or next to a window — with 300 nits and 100% sRGB coverage. G-SYNC matches the display's refresh rate, up to 144 Hz, to the graphics card: no more screen tearing in games.
Is there a fingerprint reader to unlock the session?
No, this model has no fingerprint reader. Security relies on a firmware TPM 2.0 chip and on the electronic shutter (E-shutter) of the FHD 1080p webcam, which disables the camera without having to stick a cover on the screen.
Is there an SD card reader or a DVD drive?
Neither: this LOQ has no memory card reader and no optical drive. It does not support a stylus or a WWAN card either. To offload SD cards from a camera, plan on an external reader: the three USB-A ports and the USB-C port remain available for that.
Can a 4K monitor be connected, and through which ports?
Yes. The HDMI 2.1 output goes up to 8K/60 Hz and the 10 Gbps USB-C port carries DisplayPort 1.4, giving two separate video outputs. Docking stations are also supported via USB-C, to connect your monitors and peripherals with a single cable.
Does the PC have a wired network port, and which Wi-Fi does it use?
It has an RJ-45 port at 100/1000 Mbps, useful for keeping latency stable in online gaming. On the wireless side, it has 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with Bluetooth 5.2 for a controller or a headset. Note: Ethernet tops out at 1 Gbps; it is not 2.5 Gbps.
Is this gaming laptop really rugged?
It has passed MIL-STD-810H military-grade tests, and its top and bottom covers are made of PC-ABS. The display is TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certified (software solution), which matters during long sessions. The machine is also RoHS and ErP Lot 3 compliant.
How much does it weigh, and can it be carried every day?
Expect 2.38 kg for 359.9 × 258.7 mm and 21.9 to 23.9 mm thick, plus the 170 W charger, which is bulky by nature. It is a gaming laptop that can travel, not an ultraportable: on a daily commute on foot, you will feel the weight.
Are Windows and Office supplied with the LOQ 15IRX9?
Windows 11 Home Single Language in French is preinstalled. Office, on the other hand, is only included as a trial version: you will need to buy a licence to keep using it afterwards. The keyboard is a French AZERTY layout with white backlighting, and the 75 × 120 mm touchpad is a Precision TouchPad.
How long will Lenovo support this model?
End of support for model number 83DV01BRFE is set for 13 December 2029, for a model announced on 15 August 2025. That leaves more than three years of support ahead of you: a useful figure for choosing between two machines of similar power, and one rarely shown on a product page.
Is the LOQ 15IRX9 new, and how long is the warranty?
