36 A4 pages per minute, automatic duplex, Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi: the LBP243dw II is the entry point to the LBP240 II series. It shares the chassis and the 070 cartridge of the LBP246dw II and keeps the essentials for an office of a few people.

Same chassis, the essentials for less
Compared with the LBP246dw II, the LBP243dw II prints 36 pages per minute instead of 40 and sticks to two languages, UFR II and PCL 6, with PCL 5e commands recognised. PostScript 3 and encrypted secure printing remain the preserve of its bigger sister. Everything else is shared: same footprint, same five-line LCD screen with numeric keypad, same cassette and same Cartridge 070.
Everything plugs in at the back
The USB 2.0 port connects a single computer; the Gigabit Ethernet port makes the printer available to the whole network. Over 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, it joins the office router, and its direct wireless connection accepts a phone even without a router. From a mobile device, AirPrint, Mopria and the Canon PRINT Business app send documents without installing a driver on a computer.

The front cassette holds 250 sheets from 60 to 120 g/m² and the multi-purpose tray adds 100 more, up to 199 g/m²: labels, postcards, COM10, Monarch, C5 and DL envelopes. Printed pages stack on top, up to 150 sheets. If the office prints more, the 550-sheet Cassette Feeding Module-AH1 raises input to 900 sheets.
Discreet on a shared desk
At 399 x 373 x 249 mm and 9.5 kg, it fits on a drawer unit or the corner of a desk. Canon states 54 dB in single-sided and 52 dB in duplex printing, and a machine that is inaudible on standby; consumption drops to 0.9 W in sleep mode. Recycled plastics are used in the manufacture of the series.

Does the LBP243dw II print in PostScript?
No: it prints in UFR II and PCL 6, and recognises PCL 5e commands. PostScript 3 is reserved for the LBP246dw II, which also prints faster, at 40 ppm versus 36 ppm.
Which cartridge does the LBP243dw II use?
It takes Cartridge 070 (3,000 pages) or 070H (10,200 pages), according to ISO/IEC 19752. A 1,500-page starter cartridge is supplied with the printer.
How many pages per month does Canon recommend?
Canon recommends 750 to 4,000 pages per month, with a maximum duty cycle of 80,000 pages in a peak month. Beyond the recommended volume, wear on the parts accelerates.
Can it be set up on a wireless network?
Yes: 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0. A wireless direct connection also lets you print from a phone without going through the router, with AirPrint, Mopria or Canon PRINT Business.
