Can the two handsets call each other?
Yes. The handsets call each other through internal calls, an external call can be transferred from one handset to the other, and two conversations can take place at the same time: one external and one internal. Each handset can be given a custom name, and an internal call can target all handsets or only some of them.
Can the phone block nuisance calls?
Yes. The handset keeps a blacklist of up to 50 numbers: a call from any of them no longer makes the phone ring. Do Not Disturb mode can also cut all incoming calls on demand. Blocking relies on caller ID presentation, a service to be activated with the landline operator.
Can a third handset be added?
Yes, up to 4 handsets can be registered on the base station: two come with the BASIC 100 Duo, so there is room for two more. An added handset must be compatible with the base; Gigaset publishes the list of handsets compatible with each base station on its website.
What is the battery life of each handset?
Up to 11 hours of talk time and 190 hours on standby for each handset. Each one runs on two 400 mAh AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries, all supplied in the box, making four batteries in total. The display permanently shows the charge level and a beep warns when the battery is running low.
What type of line does it connect to?
An analogue fixed telephone line. The base station connects to the telephone socket with the supplied cable and plugs into the mains with its 230 V power supply. The phone follows the DECT and GAP standards, and dials numbers in tone (DTMF) or pulse mode depending on the line.
What is the range between the handset and the base?
Up to 50 metres indoors and 300 metres outdoors. A beep warns when the handset goes out of range. ECO DECT mode automatically reduces the transmission power when the handset is close to the base, and the energy-saving power supply cuts consumption by up to 10%.
Does the BASIC 100 Duo have an answering machine?
No, the BASIC 100 Duo has no built-in answering machine: the BASIC 100A Duo version has one. Each handset does, however, keep a list of the last 20 calls, with direct call-back from the list, as well as the last 10 numbers dialled, and shows the duration of the call in progress.
What is in the box?
Two BASIC 100H handsets, the BASIC 100 base station, a charging cradle, two power supplies, the telephone connection cable, four AAA rechargeable batteries and a quick start guide. Nothing is missing to use it on an analogue landline: just plug in the base and insert the batteries.
