What exactly does the HP T1A62AA kit contain?
The HP Keyed Cable Lock 10 mm, two keys and its documentation. The cable is 1.83 m long and 4.5 mm in diameter, and the whole kit weighs 120 g: it slips into the bag with the laptop. The kit is made in China.
Does the cable really resist an attempt to pull it off?
It is made of vinyl-coated galvanised steel, 4.5 mm in diameter, to be looped around a fixed point before attaching it to the laptop. HP covers it with a one-year limited warranty.
How does it lock, and can the cable be positioned?
Loop the cable around a fixed point, insert the key into the laptop's security slot and turn it a quarter turn clockwise. The head swivels 360°, so you can position the cable on the side you want before locking.
Is it compatible with a very thin laptop or with a nano slot?
This 10 mm model is designed for ultra-slim laptops. For a nano slot, HP offers dedicated locks — the HP Nano Keyed Cable Lock (1AJ39AA) — as well as the HP Sure Key (6UW42AA), which accepts standard, nano and wedge slots. Check the slot type on your device before ordering.
Can a monitor or docking station be secured as well as the laptop?
For two devices, HP offers the 2.13 m Dual Head versions — T1A64AA keyed, T1A65AA master keyed: each device gets a head, then the whole assembly is anchored to a third fixed point. The T1A62AA, for its part, attaches to the laptop.
How does it differ from the Master Keyed T1A63AA model?
The cable is identical — 1.83 m, 4.5 mm — and both kits come with two keys. The difference lies in the lock: the T1A62AA opens with its own key, whereas the T1A63AA accepts a master key, useful when an IT department manages an entire fleet of devices.
Is the lock new and under warranty?
Yes: an HP product, new in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. The full range of locks is detailed in the HP datasheet (PDF).
