Four Epson 103 bottles: C13T00S14A black, C13T00S24A cyan, C13T00S34A magenta, C13T00S44A yellow. They are the same as on the L3250 — the two machines differ only in connectivity, not in ink. A full set, the four 65 ml bottles, covers about 4,500 pages in black and 7,500 in colour: on this machine, restocking comes up once every two or three years, not every quarter.

A one-person machine

The L3210 connects over USB, with no Wi-Fi and no screen, and prints at 10 pages per minute. It is a machine that sits next to a workstation, for personal use or a one-person office. The direct consequence for the ink: it empties slowly, and the risk is not running out but idleness.

A liquid-ink printer that goes unused sees its nozzles dry. The automatic cleaning cycle that follows draws on the tanks — on a machine used once a month, a sizeable share of the ink goes that way without a single useful page being printed. Print one page a week, preferably in colour: it is the most profitable habit on this kind of machine.

Refilling without a mistake

Pour the whole bottle in: it is calibrated for one tank, and the Epson cap releases ink only once pushed into the right port. Do not keep a little "for later" — the tank is designed to take the full amount.

And never let a tank run completely dry. The printhead, fixed on this range, is cooled by the ink flowing through it: running it dry is the only genuinely damaging thing you can do to an EcoTank.

Watch out for the other Epson numbers

The 103 is not universal. Other series take the 101, 104, 105 or 106 — the L14150, for instance, is on 101. The bottles look very much alike: check your model's exact number on the front before ordering.

How long does an unopened bottle keep?

Until the date printed on the label, provided it is kept away from light and temperature swings. A sealed bottle does not degrade in a cupboard — it is the ink inside the machine that suffers from idleness, not the ink in the bottle.
