Can more memory be added to the Legion Go S later?
No: the 32 GB of LPDDR5x-6400 is soldered to the motherboard and the console has no memory slot. The capacity cannot be upgraded, so the configuration is final from the day of purchase — that is the point to weigh up before ordering.
Can the storage be expanded beyond 1 TB?
The PCIe 4.0 SSD occupies the console's only M.2 slot, and 1 TB is the maximum supported capacity for the internal drive. Expansion therefore goes through the built-in microSD card reader: plan for a high-capacity card if your game library is large.
Is it an open Windows machine or a closed console system?
It is a full PC running Windows 11 Home Single Language in French, preinstalled: you then install the stores and games of your choice, just as on a laptop. Lenovo adds its Legion Space launcher, a 3-month PC Game Pass trial and a trial version of Office.
Is there a webcam for video calls or streaming?
No, the Legion Go S has no camera: for a video call or a video overlay, you need an external USB camera. It does, however, have dual array microphones, two 2 W stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm headphone/microphone combo jack for a wired headset.
Is the screen glossy or matte?
The 8-inch IPS panel is glossy, and therefore prone to reflections, but it has an anti-fingerprint coating and reaches 500 nits. It covers 100% of sRGB, uses Panda King glass and is TÜV Rheinland hardware low blue light certified.
What is the point of 48-120 Hz VRR when a game cannot hold 120 frames per second?
The refresh rate adjusts continuously between 48 and 120 Hz to match the actual frame rate: no more tearing or stutter when performance varies from one scene to the next. The native resolution is 1920 × 1200 in 16:10, a display area 37% larger than a 7-inch 16:9 screen.
Can it be charged and connected to a display at the same time?
Yes: its two 40 Gbps USB4 ports both support Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4, so one can take the charger while the other feeds the display or a USB-C docking station. The supplied charger is a 65 W USB-C unit, for a 55.5 Wh 3-cell battery.
Is there an Ethernet port for online gaming without relying on Wi-Fi?
No, there is no Ethernet port on the console: connectivity is via Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 (AMD RZ616) and Bluetooth 5.3, the latter also used for wireless headsets and controllers. Use of the 6 GHz band depends on the router and on the regulations in force in the country.
Is the touchpad really usable for working in Windows?
It is tiny: 10 × 10 mm, with no buttons, and located on the right grip. It is a supplementary pointer for menus, not a mouse replacement: for extended office work, you are better off using the 10-point touchscreen or plugging a mouse into a USB4 port.
Are the triggers and joysticks adjustable?
Yes. A travel switch on each LT/RT trigger toggles between a long and a short press depending on the type of game — shooting or racing — and the joysticks are Hall effect sticks. There is also a large pivoting D-pad, two Y1/Y2 buttons, four function buttons and the A, B, X, Y buttons.
How much does it weigh, and how does it handle heat during long sessions?
About 740 g, for 298.5 × 127.55 mm and a thickness of 22.6 to 43.4 mm. The Legion ColdFront system, with a large fan and enlarged heatsinks, dissipates heat during extended sessions. The shell is made of PC-ABS filled with 15% talc, with a textured finish.
Is there a fingerprint reader to unlock the console?
No, there is neither a fingerprint reader nor an infrared camera: you sign in with your usual Windows credentials. Hardware security relies on the TPM 2.0 chip enabled in firmware — worth knowing if you were counting on unlocking the console with a simple touch.
Is the Lenovo Legion Go S console new and under warranty?
