Frequently asked questions about this product
Which cameras can be connected to the Holowits HWT-XVR650?
It is a hybrid recorder: it accepts TVI, AHD and CVI analogue cameras on its 8 BNC inputs, and IP cameras over the network. You can therefore keep existing coaxial cabling while adding network cameras.
Up to what resolution does the HWT-XVR650 record?
5 megapixels in analogue (TVI/AHD/CVI), and up to 5 MP on the IP channels too. Lower resolutions — 4 MP, 1080P, 720P Lite, WD1 — are of course still supported: the camera decides, not the recorder.
Can all 8 channels be used as IP only?
Yes. By default, the recorder provides 4 IP channels in addition to the analogue inputs, but the 8 analogue inputs can be switched to 8 IP inputs. This is what allows a coaxial installation to be migrated gradually to an all-network system.
What does H.265 compression bring to this recorder?
It significantly reduces the bitrate needed for the same image quality. In practice, the same drive keeps many more days of recording than with H.264, and remote viewing works over a more modest connection.
How many cameras can be played back at the same time?
All 8 channels simultaneously in playback. This lets you reconstruct an event by scanning all the views at once, rather than going through camera by camera.
How do you find a specific event in the recordings?
Four search modes are available: by time slot, by time, by event (manual trigger or motion detection) and by tag placed on the footage. Recording itself can be manual, scheduled or triggered by motion.
How do you export footage from the HWT-XVR650?
Via USB flash drive or over the network. The interface is operated with a mouse, in a graphical windowed environment: exporting footage to hand over to the authorities requires no particular expertise.
Is the Holowits HWT-XVR650 recorder new and under warranty?
New, reference HWT-XVR650-A01 8CH, in its original packaging. The invoice serves as the warranty document for 1 year. The datasheet lists all the specifications.
