Will my smartphone fit in the clamp, whatever its size?
The magnetic clamp takes phones 64 to 84 mm wide, 6.9 to 10 mm thick and weighing 130 to 300 g, and weighs 25 g itself. A thick case can take you outside these limits, especially on thickness: measure your phone with its case on before ordering.
Is my phone supported, and up to what video quality?
Among the listed models, the iPhone 12 to 17 Pro/Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S24 to S26 Ultra, Google Pixel 9-10 Pro and Xiaomi 17 shoot up to 4K at 60 fps with the ultra-wide, wide and telephoto lenses; the OPPO Find X9, vivo X200 and HUAWEI Mate 80 top out at 4K at 30 fps. Other models appear in the full compatibility list.
What is the real-world battery life, and how long does it take to recharge?
10 hours, measured at 25 °C with the gimbal balanced on a flat surface and the tracking light switched off: those are the test conditions. The 1,100 mAh (8.5 Wh) battery recharges via USB-C, reaching 80% in 55 minutes and 100% in 2 hours on a 5 V/2 A power supply.
Can you use and recharge it outdoors in cold weather?
It operates from −10 °C to 40 °C, but charging is only possible between 0 °C and 40 °C. In the mountains or in severe cold, you can film without any problem, but you will have to wait until you are somewhere warm to plug it in.
Are the selfie stick and tripod really built in, and how long are they?
Yes, both are housed in the body of the gimbal: the selfie stick extends to 210 mm, a length specific to the Pro version, and the tripod measures 94 mm when deployed, with a 204 mm diameter. Folded, the whole unit measures 97.9 × 178.4 × 36.7 mm and weighs about 357 g; unfolded, it measures 121.1 × 282.1 × 54 mm.
Is the 360° panorama truly complete on the Pro version?
Yes: the Flow 2 Pro offers continuous 360° pan rotation, whereas the Flow 2 stops between 270 and 310° depending on the tilt angle. Just set up the built-in tripod to start the shot. On top of that come a roll range of −390° to 135°, a tilt range of −99° to 231° and a maximum speed of 120°/s.
Does tracking work on anything other than faces?
Yes: Deep Track 4.0 tracks several people at once, and also dogs, cats and horses. It is built for fast sports — tennis, dance, basketball with a Hoop mode that detects every basket — and active zoom tracking keeps the subject framed even at a good distance, on iPhone 12 and later models.
What is dual-view mode, and on which phones?
It records the front and rear cameras, or the two rear cameras, simultaneously, giving three independent streams in a single take. Ideal for a vlog where you film yourself commenting on the scene, without shooting twice. It does, however, require an iPhone 12 or later.
Do you have to use the Insta360 app?
Not always: on iPhone, tracking is native via Apple DockKit, active in more than 200 iOS apps, and NFC launches the native camera directly on Android. The Insta360 app is still needed for features such as Dolby Vision.
Is a microphone supplied to improve vlog audio?
No: the Mic Air is sold separately, and on the Flow 2 series it requires its transmitter and its receiver to work. So budget for it on top if you film outdoors or far from the phone. Once installed, it is controlled with a single press: recording, noise reduction or muting the mic.
How do you control it when you are the one in front of the lens?
Three ways: raise your hand to start tracking and recording, turn a second phone into a remote to preview and frame from a distance, or use an Apple Watch. On the device itself, the SmartWheel rotates the phone, while the touch panel and buttons handle the rest.
Is the gimbal new and under warranty?
Yes: a new Insta360 Flow 2 Pro, in Summit White, supplied with its invoice, which serves as a 1-year warranty. Charging is via USB-C, the phone connection via Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC allows quick tap-to-start on Android.
