Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the iPad Air M3's USB-C port allow fast transfers?
Yes: it runs at USB 3, 10 Gbps. Offloading a card full of photos or connecting an external SSD happens at a comfortable pace, whereas entry-level models top out at 480 Mbps. The same port handles charging and output to an external display.
Is the iPad Air M3 compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro?
Yes, as well as with the Apple Pencil (USB-C). Both are sold separately. This is what sets the iPad Air apart from the entry-level iPad, which is limited to the Apple Pencil (USB-C) and the 1st generation via an adapter.
What battery life is quoted for the 11-inch iPad Air M3?
Up to 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi on a single charge, from a lithium-polymer battery. This is the figure for everyday use: it drops with video editing or gaming, and depends on brightness and the network. Charging is via a 20 W USB-C power adapter.
Does the iPad Air M3 support Apple Intelligence?
Yes. The M3 chip — 8-core CPU, 9-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine — and the 8 GB of unified memory run these features directly on the tablet. This is the main difference from the entry-level iPad, which does not offer them.
How good is the 11-inch iPad Air's display for photography?
The Liquid Retina 2360 × 1640 panel reaches 500 nits and covers the P3 wide colour gamut, which extends beyond sRGB on saturated reds and greens: you can judge your edits with accurate colours. True Tone adjusts the whites to the light in the room.
How many speakers does the iPad Air M3 have?
Four, with spatial audio, arranged to play in landscape mode: two on each side of the screen when the tablet is held horizontally. The soundstage is noticeably wider than on a tablet with two speakers, for a film as well as a video call.
Is the front camera well placed for video calls?
Yes, it is on the long edge: with the tablet set horizontally on a stand or keyboard, you look straight into the lens instead of being framed at an angle. The 12 MP sensor with Center Stage follows you and keeps you centred in the frame when you move.
What does the iPad Air's Wi-Fi 6E add compared with Wi-Fi 6?
It opens up the 6 GHz band, in addition to 2.4 and 5 GHz. It is a new band, so little used: the benefit shows in an office or flat where around twenty devices are transmitting at the same time, provided your broadband router or access point broadcasts on it.
How do you unlock the 11-inch iPad Air M3?
With Touch ID, built into the top button: a press of your finger unlocks the tablet and approves a purchase, even when it is lying flat or attached to a keyboard.
Is the Magic Keyboard supplied with the iPad Air M3?
No, it is sold separately, like the Apple Pencil. The model to get is the Magic Keyboard for iPad Air. The tablet has a Smart Connector for it, in addition to its USB-C port.
8 GB of unified memory: what difference does it make?
The memory is shared between the processor and the graphics instead of being partitioned: data is not copied from one block to the other. With 8 GB, this translates into smooth multitasking and apps that stay in memory when you switch between them.
Is this iPad Air new and under warranty?
Yes, new and sealed, with a 1-year warranty; your invoice serves as proof. The chassis is made of 100% recycled aluminium and is just 6.1 mm thick.
