3,000 pages, but 3,000 pages of what?

The stated yield is measured on A4 sheets, to a standard that fixes the ink coverage. Yet this machine is the fastest in its family precisely because it handles small formats very well: 40 pages per minute in A4, and up to 65.4 in A5 landscape.

If your work revolves around half formats — prescriptions, tickets, workshop sheets, shelf labels — a 070 cartridge lasts for about twice as many documents as the stated figure, since an A5 is half the area. That is good news, but it throws out every calculation based on the catalogue figure.

The reverse holds too: a dense document, with tables and solid fills, goes well beyond the standard's coverage and uses far more than average. The only accurate figure remains your own counter, read off the machine.

070 or 070H

The gap between the two capacities is 3.4, for an identical slot and identical fitting. On a machine running at 40 pages per minute, connected to the network and fitted with a feeder that scans both sides in one pass, the real volume nearly always sits at the top of the range: the 070H is the format to go for.

It is not the price of the cartridge that decides, it is the number of interruptions on shared equipment — each one stops several people at once.

Four functions, only one free

It prints, copies, scans and faxes, with a 12.7 cm touchscreen, a 250-sheet cassette, a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray and automatic duplex. Of those four functions, only scanning uses nothing. Copying uses as much as printing, and an incoming fax prints on its own — turn on reception to memory from the panel if you receive unsolicited faxes.
