Which toner fits the HP Color LaserJet CP5225?

A machine no longer sold, toners still to be found

The CP5225 has been off the market for a long time. That is no reason to part with it: a solid A3 colour machine that works well has no reason to be replaced as long as its consumables are available — and they are.

That is in fact why these pages exist. Our tool covers the machines we no longer sell as much as those we do, because the printer whose cartridges you are hunting for is, most often, the one that is already a few years old. A printer dropped from the catalogue is not an abandoned printer.

7,000 pages: what that changes

The ratio against an entry-level colour laser is ten to one — 7,000 pages versus 700 on a Color Laser 178nw. At equal volume, you change toner ten times less often, and the cost per page is in another league altogether.

That is the gap that justifies keeping an older machine rather than buying a new compact one: the purchase price of an entry-level model is soon caught up by its consumables. Do the sums over a full year before replacing anything.

A3 format in the arithmetic

The CP5225 prints up to A3, at 20 pages per minute. A useful reminder: the stated 7,000 pages are measured on A4. An A3 page is twice the area and uses ink in proportion — if your use is mostly large format, count on around 3,500 pages per toner.
