Do I need to buy cartridges or an ink ribbon for the TM-T20III?
No. It is a thermal printer: no cartridge or ribbon to buy again, the only consumable is the paper roll. The box already contains one roll, the rubber feet, the roll spacer and the manual on CD.
Can 58 mm rolls be used instead of 80 mm?
Yes. It takes rolls 79.5 mm wide as well as 57.5 mm wide (83 mm diameter in both cases), and the paper roll spacer is included in the box. At 80 mm, the receipt has 48 or 64 character columns, at 22.6 or 16.9 characters per inch depending on the font.
Can it drive a cash drawer directly, without an additional box?
Yes. It has a built-in multi-pin drawer kick-out connector (D.K.D. function, 2 drivers), in addition to its USB 2.0 Type-B and RS-232 serial ports: the cash drawer connects directly to the printer.
Can this 011 model connect via Ethernet or Wi-Fi?
This version (011) connects via USB 2.0 Type-B and RS-232 serial. Wi-Fi can be added with the optional Epson OT-WL06 2.4/5 GHz dongle (ref. C32C891323); for native Ethernet, the second version of the TM-T20III is the one to choose. An OT-BZ20 external buzzer is also available as an option.
Is the receipt cut automatically at the end of printing?
Yes, a built-in cutter makes a partial cut: the receipt stays held by a point of paper that you tear off in one motion. The roll-end and near-end sensors, together with the cover-open sensor, flag a paper outage before it happens in the middle of a transaction.
How does the paper-saving function really reduce my consumption?
It works on four levers: reducing the top and bottom margins, the line feed and the barcode height, plus printing the next receipt's logo before the current receipt is cut — this last point removes a further 12 mm of top margin. The amount of paper used can also be monitored and controlled.
Can a logo and barcodes be printed on the receipts?
Yes. It prints text (euro symbol included), graphics and barcodes, at a density of 203 × 203 dpi. The character set covers 95 alphanumeric characters, 18 international sets and 128 × 43 graphic characters. Printing is monochrome, in black, at 250 mm/s.
Can it be wall-mounted or stood vertically behind the counter?
Yes, all three positions are provided for: horizontal, vertical and vertical with wall bracket — and the wall bracket is included in the box, with its mounting instructions. At 140 × 199 × 146 mm and 1.7 kg, it fits on a corner of the counter or frees up the work surface.
Is it robust enough for a shop that prints all day long?
Its reliability figures are aimed at intensive use: MTBF of 360,000 hours and a mechanism life of 15 million lines. At 250 mm/s, it is sized for high-volume printing environments. Epson was also the leading manufacturer of POS printers in Europe for fiscal year 2017 (IDC 2018).
Is it noisy, and can it cope with premises without air conditioning?
Its sound power level in operation is 55 dB(A). It works between 5 and 45 °C and from 10 to 90% humidity, which comfortably covers a shop without air conditioning, and can be stored from -10 to 50 °C. It complies with the UL, CSA and TÜV safety standards and carries the CE marking.
What is its power consumption in standby?
It is powered at 24 V by its AC adapter, with an average current of 1.8 A when printing and 0.1 A in standby. You can therefore leave it switched on throughout opening hours with no notable impact. The C1 power supply unit and its mains cable are included.
What exactly is in the box, and is the USB cable included?
The USB cable is included, along with the C1 AC adapter and its AC cable. There is also a paper roll, the power switch cover, the rubber feet, the wall bracket and its mounting instructions, the roll spacer, the manual on CD and the warranty document.
Is the printer new and under warranty?
Yes: new in its original packaging, reference C31CH51011 (EAN 8715946669649), delivered with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. Full specifications are in the Epson datasheet (PDF).
