What does the 1-inch sensor of the Canon XA75 bring?
A much larger sensitive area than the 1/2.3-inch sensor of the XA60B and XA65: more light captured, better performance indoors and a shallower depth of field, hence the background blur that distinguishes a cinematic image from a reportage-style one.
What is the zoom range of the Canon XA75?
15x optical, from 25.5 to 382 mm in 35 mm equivalent, with an aperture of f/2.8 to 4.5. Less reach than the small-sensor models, but a wider wide angle and a brighter lens at the telephoto end.
Does the Canon XA75 have ND filters?
Yes, three built-in densities: 1/4, 1/16 and 1/64. An ND filter darkens the image without touching the aperture: that is what lets you film in full sunlight at a wide aperture, and so keep the background blur.
Does the Canon XA75 have a viewfinder?
Yes, an electronic viewfinder, in addition to the 3.5-inch touchscreen. The viewfinder remains the only way to frame precisely in full sunlight, when the screen becomes unreadable — a real advantage on an outdoor shoot.
