The Grandstream DP720 cordless DECT VoIP phone gives you complete freedom of movement in any workplace. Paired with Grandstream's DP750 base station, which supports up to 5 DP720 handsets, it reaches up to 300 metres outdoors and 50 metres indoors from the base. Each handset handles up to 10 SIP accounts, with Full HD audio on both the speakerphone and the handset. Does the DP720 work on its own, without any other equipment?
No: it is a handset, which must be paired with a Grandstream DP750 DECT VoIP base station to connect to the phone network. The base station is not included here: the box contains the handset, its charging cradle, the multi-voltage power supply, the belt clip, 2 batteries and the quick start guide.
How many handsets can be added to a single base station?
Five DP720 per DP750: you can therefore equip a shop or a workshop gradually, with a single base station. Each handset has access to up to 10 lines of its own.
What is the real range from the base station inside a building?
50 m indoors and up to 300 m outdoors from the DP750. The handset operates in the European DECT band, 1,880-1,900 MHz, split across 10 channels. It weighs 138 g and measures 155 × 50 × 26 mm, so you can carry it without noticing throughout the covered area.
What batteries does the handset use, and what battery life does it offer?
Two 800 mAh AAA Ni-MH batteries with low self-discharge (LSD), included in the box. Expect 250 hours on standby and 20 hours of talk time.
Can it be used permanently plugged in, without a battery?
Yes: a micro-USB port provides an additional charging option and lets the handset run without the battery. Useful for a phone that always stays in the same place, at a counter or a reception desk. The supplied power supply is multi-voltage, 100-240 V, with a 5 V 1 A micro-USB output.
Can you plug in a headset and wear it on your belt?
Yes to both: the handset has a 3.5 mm headset jack and a removable belt clip, included in the box. The built-in speaker works in full duplex, so you can take a call hands-free without a headset.
Is it suitable for someone who wears a hearing aid?
Yes: the DP720 is hearing aid compatible (HAC). It also delivers HD audio via the G.722 codec, on both the handset and the speaker, with ambient noise reduction, acoustic echo cancellation and automatic gain control.
Are calls between the handset and the base station encrypted?
Yes: DECT authentication and encryption protect both calls and accounts. On the administration side, the handset is updated over the air (SUOTA) and configured via XML files or TR-069, with no need to set up each phone individually.
Can it be used in a warehouse without air conditioning, or in a yard?
Its operating range is -10 to 50 °C, with an allowed humidity of 10 to 90% non-condensing. The only constraint: charging must take place between 0 and 45 °C, so the charging cradle is best kept in a temperature-controlled room.
Is the handset menu available in French and Arabic?
Yes, both. Multilingual support covers French and Arabic, as well as English, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Turkish and a dozen or so other languages.
What does the screen show, and are there programmable keys?
A 1.8-inch colour TFT screen (128 × 160) sits above a keypad of 23 keys, 2 of them programmable, 5 menu and navigation keys and 4 function keys. A 3-colour indicator light signals waiting messages.
Does it integrate with an existing IP PBX?
Yes. Paired with the DP750, it works with Grandstream UCM series IP PBXs without any special configuration, as the base station is fully compliant with the SIP/DECT standard. The expected features follow: transfer, hold, call routing, do not disturb, 3-way conferencing.
Is the handset new and under warranty?
