Does the screen really measure 25 inches diagonally?
The panel measures 24.5 inches, with an active area of 543.7 × 302.6 mm. The whole unit takes up 557.2 × 192 × 413.9 mm on the desk and weighs 2.84 kg, with a thin bezel on all four sides.
Does 120 Hz work on both video inputs?
No. 120 Hz is only available over HDMI 1.4b; the VGA input tops out at 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz. The monitor has only one input of each type, one HDMI and one D-Sub: use HDMI to enjoy the advertised smoothness, and keep VGA for an older machine or a second computer.
Which cables are supplied in the box?
An HDMI 1.4 cable, the power adapter and a quick start guide. The supplied cable is precisely the one that unlocks 120 Hz, so the monitor is ready to use straight out of the box. If you plan to use the VGA input, however, get the matching cable: only the HDMI cable is in the box.
Is the power supply built in, or is an external power brick needed?
It is an external power brick, rated 12 V / 2.5 A, accepting 100–240 V and 50–60 Hz; it plugs into the monitor's DC connector. Leave room for this unit under the desk or near the power strip.
Is the panel matte or glossy?
It has an anti-glare treatment, so it is matte, delivers 250 cd/m² and offers viewing angles of 178° horizontally and vertically thanks to IPS technology. Facing a window or viewed by two people, it therefore keeps stable colours and few reflections.
Can the screen height be adjusted, or can it be rotated?
The original stand handles tilt, from −5° to +20°. For height adjustment, rotation or portrait mode, the monitor can be fitted via VESA 100 × 100 mm to an arm or a wall mount, a use explicitly provided for by MSI.
Is it comfortable for eight hours of office work?
That is its home ground: an anti-glare IPS panel at 250 cd/m² and flicker-free images. MSI adds Eye-Q Check, which offers a self-check of your eyesight and reminds you to take a break after a long session, as well as the EyesErgo ergonomic solution. The 120 Hz refresh rate also makes text scrolling smoother.
Is it suitable for photo editing or colour work?
For everyday use, yes: 99% of the sRGB space (CIE1976), 16.7 million colours and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. One reservation for demanding professional work: the panel is 8-bit achieved with 6-bit + FRC, not native 8-bit.
Can I connect a games console to it?
Yes. The inputs are stated to be compatible with PC, Mac, PS5, PS4, Xbox, mobile devices and laptops. The monitor supports Adaptive-Sync, with a response time of 1 ms MPRT (4 ms GtG), and its HDMI 1.4b input is rated for Full HD at up to 120 Hz.
Is it suitable for a dual-monitor setup?
Yes, it is one of its selling points: the frameless design on all four sides reduces the break between two panels side by side, for a wider, more immersive view. Allow 557.2 mm of width per monitor, and 2.84 kg per screen for a dual VESA 100 × 100 arm.
What certifications does it carry, and can it be locked to the desk?
It is CB and CE certified and Energy Star labelled. For a shared desk or an open-plan office, a Kensington lock slot is provided, alongside the power connector, the two video inputs and the 5-way navigation button that controls the menus.
Is the MSI PRO MP251L E2 monitor new and under warranty?
