Which cables are supplied with the Samsung ViewFinity S80D monitor?
An HDMI cable and a USB 3.0 cable of 1.5 m are in the box. The USB cable connects the monitor to the PC to activate the built-in hub. The monitor also has a DisplayPort 1.2 input.
What can be plugged straight into the monitor, and what is the USB hub for?
Three USB 3.0 ports act as a hub for a keyboard, mouse, flash drive or external drive, and a headphone jack carries the audio. The monitor also has a USB-B port, to be connected to the computer with the supplied USB cable.
Can a laptop be connected over USB-C to this 32-inch monitor?
The video inputs are one DisplayPort 1.2 and one HDMI 2.0, both with HDCP 2.2. A laptop that only outputs video over USB-C therefore needs a USB-C to HDMI or DisplayPort adapter to display 3840 × 2160.
Can the monitor pivot to portrait mode and be adjusted for height?
Yes. The stand offers 120 mm of height adjustment, tilts from −2° to 25°, swivels ±30° and pivots ±92°: so you can turn the panel to portrait, handy for coding or proofreading long documents. The stand is fitted tool-free, with a simple click.
