Which cables come in the box with the monitor?
The box contains the power cable, a 1.8 m DisplayPort cable and a 1 m USB cable for the hub, along with the stand, the mounting card and the calibration report. The ready-to-use connection is therefore DisplayPort: you will need a separate cable to connect via HDMI.
Is every unit really factory-calibrated, and can you check it?
Yes, and the proof is in the box: a factory calibration report comes with the monitor. Calibration is carried out to an average Delta E below 2, with coverage of 100% sRGB and BT.709 and 98% DCI-P3 and Display P3, in 1.07 billion colours.
Can I daisy-chain a second monitor to the U2724D?
Yes: the DisplayPort 1.4 output (MST) drives a second monitor from the same computer, and the DP 1.4 input supports two QHD panels at 120 Hz in 8-bit. On a Mac, single-cable daisy-chaining requires a Thunderbolt connection, and some M-series chips may not support every feature.
Does the monitor have built-in speakers?
No, there are no speakers. A line-out audio port is provided at the back to connect speakers or headphones: plan for separate audio if the monitor will be used for daily video calls.
Does the U2724D support HDR for photo or video work?
No, HDR is not supported. The monitor relies instead on an IPS Black panel that raises contrast to 2,000:1 with deeper blacks than a standard IPS, 1.07 billion colours and 350 cd/m² brightness. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts brightness and colour temperature.
Is the panel matte, and can it handle a full working day?
It is matte: an anti-glare coating with 3H hardness. On eye strain, it is the first monitor to be certified TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 5-star; the ComfortView Plus filter is built into the backlight and brings harmful blue light below 35% without a yellow tint.
Can it be mounted on a wall or a desk arm, and how much does it weigh then?
Yes, with VESA 100 × 100: the holes are behind the VESA cover. Without its stand, the monitor weighs 4.49 kg; with the stand and cables, it goes up to 6.56 kg. The stand locks onto the monitor with a screw and has its own anti-theft point, in addition to the Kensington slot on the chassis.
Does the stand allow portrait mode, and how high does it go?
Yes: 90° pivot for portrait, 150 mm height adjustment, ±45° swivel and tilt from -5° to +21°. The whole unit measures 385.58 to 535.58 mm high with the stand: enough to bring the panel in line with your eyes without a monitor riser.
Can I display two computers on this monitor at the same time?
Yes: PiP (picture-in-picture) and PbP (picture-by-picture) modes display content from two machines simultaneously. There is, however, no built-in KVM: the monitor cannot switch a single keyboard and mouse from one computer to the other.
Is the HDMI port capped at 60 Hz, as on many monitors?
No: the HDMI input accepts QHD 2560 × 1440 at 120 Hz, with VRR as defined by the HDMI 2.1 standard. The 120 Hz — less flicker, smoother scrolling and motion than at 60 Hz — therefore remains available whichever input you use. HDCP 1.4 is supported on this port.
How much power does it use, and what is its energy class?
23.9 W in normal operation, up to 85 W at peak, 0.5 W in standby and 0.3 W in off mode. It is rated energy class F and ENERGY STAR certified; the PowerNap feature dims the panel or puts it to sleep when it is not in use.
What environmental and manufacturing certifications does this monitor carry?
It is EPEAT Gold, TCO Certified Edge and ENERGY STAR certified and RoHS compliant. The chassis contains 85% post-consumer recyclable plastic and 90% recycled aluminium; it is BFR/PVC-free (excluding external cables), with arsenic-free and mercury-free glass.
