Can you connect and charge your laptop with a single cable?
Yes, through the Thunderbolt 4 port: 5K picture, data at up to 40 Gbps and 90 W charging over the same cable, which is included. The three downstream USB-C ports then act as a hub for your peripherals: a single cable connects the whole workstation.
Does it work with a Mac, and which ones exactly?
It is supported by Apple silicon Macs released after 2020: MacBook Pro 2021 and later (plus the 2020 13-inch M1), MacBook Air 2022 and later (plus the 2020 M1), iMac 2021+, Mac mini 2020+, Mac Studio 2022+ and Mac Pro 2023. Apple AirPlay also lets you mirror or extend the display wirelessly.
Is there an HDMI port for connecting a console or a player?
No. The video inputs are one Thunderbolt 4 and one Mini DisplayPort, both HDCP 2.2 for protected content. Check your device's output before buying: an HDMI-only source cannot be connected as is. Switching between the two inputs is automatic (Auto Source Switch+).
Can you plug wired headphones into the monitor?
No, there is no headphone output. Sound comes through the two built-in 5 W speakers (10 W RMS in total), with the Adaptive Sound+ feature and the ability to send the monitor's sound to a mobile device. A microphone is, however, built in.
Is the webcam included, and what is its quality?
Yes, the 8.3 MP SlimFit 4K camera comes with the monitor and attaches to it. Its angle can be tilted up or down, and a microphone is built in: no external webcam is needed for your video calls.
Do you need to calibrate the monitor before you start working on it?
No: every unit is factory-calibrated in sRGB before shipping, with ΔE below 2 accuracy and a calibration report. You can then adjust gamma, luminance, colour temperature and colour space with Smart Calibration, from a compatible smartphone and the SmartThings app.
Is the colour coverage sufficient for graphic design work?
It reaches 99% of DCI-P3 and 100% of sRGB, with 1 billion colours, and dedicated sRGB, BT.709, DCI-P3 and Graphic modes. The monitor is also Pantone Validated: a solid basis for photography, video or layout work.
Is the panel matte or glossy, and does it tire the eyes?
Matte: the anti-glare coating greatly reduces reflections without dulling the picture. The monitor is flicker-free, has a low blue light mode, and is UL Glare Free and TÜV Eye Care certified. Brightness reaches 600 cd/m² typical, with 480 cd/m² minimum.
Is this monitor suitable for gaming?
Its refresh rate is capped at 60 Hz with 5 ms GTG: it is first and foremost a creative monitor. Game Mode, Game Bar 2.0 and Gaming Hub are indeed present, but a gamer looking for the smoothness needed in fast-paced titles will go for a high-refresh-rate panel.
Can you rotate it to portrait or mount it on a wall?
Yes to both: the stand pivots from -92° to +92°, offers 120 mm of height adjustment and tilts from -2° to 15°, with built-in cable management. Without the stand, the monitor is 27.1 mm thick, weighs 4.7 kg and mounts via VESA 100 × 100 mm.
Can the Smart TV apps and Gaming Hub be used everywhere?
Their availability depends on the country: Gaming Hub is listed for KR, US, CA, BR, GB, FR, DE, IT and ES, and Samsung TV Plus for a list of European countries. These services require an internet connection and a Samsung account, and the TV tuner is not included.
What exactly is in the ViewFinity S90PC box?
The monitor and its stand, the Thunderbolt 4 cable, the SlimFit camera with its connector, a remote control and the external power adapter with a 1.5 m cord. Mounted on its stand, the whole unit weighs 7.4 kg and is 611 mm wide.
How much power does it consume, and what is its energy class?
Class F in SDR and G in HDR, for 26.1 kWh per 1,000 hours (around 38 kWh per year) and 0.5 W in standby; the maximum peak recorded is 182 W. Power is supplied by an external adapter: make room for it under the desk.
What does 5K bring compared with a 27-inch 4K monitor?
On 27 inches, the 5120 × 2880 pixels give 218 pixels per inch: a more generous workspace than in 4K, and very crisp rendering of text as well as image detail. The IPS panel rounds it off with 178° viewing angles on both axes.
