Does the Odyssey OLED G6 have a USB-C input?
No. The picture comes in through one of the two HDMI 2.1 ports or through DisplayPort 1.4; the two USB hub ports and the upstream USB-B link are for accessories. From a laptop whose only video output is USB-C, you will therefore need an adapter to HDMI or DisplayPort.
Is OLED panel burn-in covered by the warranty?
Yes: screen burn-in occurring under normal use is covered, with commercial use, abuse and misuse excluded. On top of this comes Samsung OLED Safeguard+ protection, with a pulsating heat pipe that dissipates heat five times more effectively than the previous graphite sheet.
How does the monitor protect the panel from static images?
Through two complementary mechanisms: the screen saver dims the panel after 10 minutes of inactivity and restores brightness at the slightest movement; logo and taskbar detection lowers the brightness of static areas — although this feature is not available in PC mode.
Is the Odyssey OLED G6 a 4K monitor?
No: its panel is QHD 2560 x 1440, i.e. a pixel density 1.7 times higher than Full HD at this 27-inch size. It is at this resolution that 240 Hz is specified, via DisplayPort 1.4 as well as via the two HDMI 2.1 ports.
Which cable do you need to get 240 Hz on the G6?
The DisplayPort cable is supplied with the monitor, along with a 1.5 m power cord. 240 Hz is available via DisplayPort 1.4 as well as via the two HDMI 2.1 ports; on the computer side, the video output must keep up, and the refresh rate is then set in the display settings.
Does the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 monitor have speakers?
No, there are no built-in speakers. There is, however, a headphone jack on the monitor, and the USB hub — two USB 3 ports, connected to the PC via the upstream USB-B port — accepts a USB headset or microphone without going back to the tower.
Is the G6 compatible with G-Sync and FreeSync?
Yes to both: G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certified. The monitor's refresh rate then locks onto the number of frames actually produced by the graphics card, which eliminates tearing and stuttering when the frame rate varies during a game.
Isn't 250 cd/m² too low for a gaming monitor?
That is the stated typical brightness, with a minimum of 200 cd/m². The 1,000,000:1 static contrast ratio inherent to QD-OLED and the glare-free treatment — 54% fewer reflections than a standard anti-reflective film — deliver a very readable image, even in a brightly lit room.
How good are the QD-OLED colours for video editing?
The panel displays up to one billion colours and covers 99% of the DCI space (CIE 1976), with 178° viewing angles and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio with no light bleed between pixels. It supports HDR10 and HDR10+ Gaming, with a 0.03 ms GtG response time.
Does the G6 stand allow portrait mode, and can the monitor be wall-mounted?
Yes: 120 mm of height adjustment, tilt from -2° to +25°, swivel of ±30° and pivot of ±92° for portrait orientation. A VESA 100 x 100 mm wall mount is supported; without its stand, the monitor weighs only 3.8 kg, compared with 6.9 kg with it, and is 49.2 mm thick.
Is the Odyssey OLED G6's power supply built in?
No, it uses an external adapter connected to a 1.5 m cord: allow room for the brick under the desk. The monitor consumes 28 W in typical use, 140 W maximum and 0.3 W in standby, i.e. 41 kWh per year, with an energy efficiency class of G.
How much space does the Odyssey OLED G6 take up on a desk?
611.7 mm wide and 263.5 mm deep with the stand, for a maximum overall height of 554.2 mm. The base swivels: the monitor can be turned without moving the stand. Allow 6.9 kg with the stand, and 49.2 mm of thickness for the panel alone.
Is this Samsung monitor new and under warranty?
Yes: a new product, in its original packaging, with a one-year warranty and your invoice serving as the warranty document. The box contains the DisplayPort cable and the 1.5 m power cord, and the monitor is also Windows 11 certified.
