Sixteen gigabytes of DDR5,
under a 33.8 mm heatsink.

This XPG Lancer Blade module runs at 6000 MT/s at CL48 as soon as its Intel XMP 3.0 or AMD EXPO profile is enabled. Its black heatsink, only 33.8 mm high, was designed for compact cases and to fit under large CPU coolers.

Room left for the CPU cooler

A tall module can hit the fins of a large CPU cooler sitting just above the memory slots. The Lancer Blade stops at 33.8 mm high and 7.8 mm thick, on a standard length of 133.35 mm: it fits in a compact case as well as under a tower cooler, without giving up a heatsink.

A profile to enable once in the BIOS

Out of the box, the module starts at the standard frequency of 4800 MT/s, at 40-39-39-77 and 1.1 V. The 6000 MT/s at CL48 are reached by choosing the Intel XMP 3.0 or AMD EXPO profile in the BIOS, without setting timings by hand. The motherboard and processor must accept this speed: their memory compatibility list confirms it.

Regulated power on the module

The Lancer Blade carries its own power management circuit (PMIC), which stabilises the voltage delivered to the chips, and on-die error correction that fixes errors in real time inside the memory. Its lower operating voltage makes it more energy-efficient than a DDR4 module.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How do you get the stated 6000 MT/s?
By enabling the Intel XMP 3.0 or AMD EXPO profile in the BIOS. Without a profile, the module starts at the standard frequency of 4800 MT/s (40-39-39-77, 1.1 V). The motherboard and processor must accept 6000 MT/s: check your motherboard's memory compatibility list before buying, especially on an older platform. The setting is saved and applies at every start-up.
Is it compatible with a laptop or a DDR4 motherboard?
No. This is a 288-pin DDR5 U-DIMM module, the desktop PC format. It does not fit a laptop SO-DIMM slot, and its DDR5 notch physically prevents it from being installed on a DDR4 motherboard. You need a DDR5 motherboard, Intel or AMD, with full-length (DIMM) memory slots. Its 33.8 mm height also makes it easy to fit in a compact case.
Will it fit under my CPU cooler?
That is its main selling point: the heatsink only rises to 33.8 mm (133.35 × 33.8 × 7.8 mm). XPG designed it low-profile for compact cases and so as not to hit the large CPU coolers of tower PCs. Compare it with the clearance above the memory slots given by your cooler's manufacturer. The heatsink is no more than 7.8 mm thick.
Should you buy two modules for dual channel?
This reference is sold individually: one 16 GB module. To run the memory controller in dual channel, install two identical modules, i.e. 32 GB, in the slots shown in the motherboard manual. A single module works, with half of the available memory bandwidth. Choose the same reference to get identical modules.
What do the PMIC and on-die ECC bring?
The PMIC is a power management circuit placed on the module itself: it stabilises the power supply to the chips. On-die ECC corrects errors inside the memory chips in real time. It is not the end-to-end ECC of server memory: the module remains unbuffered memory. The module needs only 1.1 V at the standard frequency.
Does this module have RGB lighting?
No. This reference, the AX5U6000C4816G-SLABBK, is the black Lancer Blade without lighting, with a matte heatsink. XPG offers the Lancer Blade in white and in an RGB version under other references: check the suffix if you are completing an existing configuration, to keep identical modules in your PC. It needs no lighting software or extra cable.
