The confusion is common when ordering: you assume an "Enterprise" machine calls for consumables of another class, dearer and harder to find. That is wrong. The 59A and the 59X serve the Pro and the Enterprise models of this family alike.
What the label changes comes down to two lines of the specification sheet. The maximum cycle goes from 80,000 to 100,000 pages a month, and above all the floor of the recommended volume rises from 750 to 900 pages, with a ceiling of 4,800 instead of 4,000. In other words, the machine is designed never to sit idle: it is a departmental printer, not a personal one.
The difference also covers administration — monitoring, security, fleet management — but none of that touches the cartridge.
On this machine, automatic duplex is the default setting. It is a choice that halves paper consumption while changing nothing about toner — two printed sides count as two pages, and the 59A still yields 3,000.
Against the recommended volume, a 59A lasts about nineteen days at the 4,800-page ceiling, and a 59X a little over two months. On equipment shared by a whole department, the 59X is nearly always the right choice: what you save is not the price of a cartridge, it is the work interrupted for several people.
8.5 kg, 38 pages per minute, 350 sheets split between a 250-sheet tray and a 100-sheet secondary one, a colour screen for launching and releasing jobs at the machine, and a Gigabit Ethernet connection — with no Wi-Fi, which is the norm in this segment. The consumable is identical to that of the LaserJet Pro M404dn.
