Do you have to stay by the machine to shred a pile of documents?
No. You drop up to 350 loose sheets into the automatic feeder, close it and go back to work: the whole pile is shredded in 9 minutes with no intervention. That is the key difference from a shredder you feed sheet by sheet.
How long can the AutoMax 350C run without stopping?
Up to 45 minutes of continuous operation, that is up to 720 sheets per cycle: roughly two full feeder loads in a row. Remember to empty the 68-litre bin between cycles so as not to interrupt a big archiving session.
What does DIN P-4 security level actually mean?
Each A4 sheet is reduced to about 410 pieces of 4 × 38 mm, cross-cut rather than in strips: that is what the DIN P-4 level shown on this machine covers.
Do you need to remove staples and paper clips before loading documents?
No: staples and paper clips are shredded along with the paper. You clear out your files without sorting them first, which saves real time on large volumes of archives.
Can it shred CDs/DVDs and bank cards, and where do they go in?
Yes, through the manual feed slot: CDs, DVDs and credit cards. The automatic feeder, for its part, is designed for the 350 sheets of paper. An expired card or a backup CD can therefore be destroyed on site, without an outside contractor.
What happens if the paper jams?
Auto-Reverse technology takes over: the machine stops and pushes the paper back out by itself. You remove the excess sheets and start again.
Is it bearable in an open-plan or shared office?
Yes, that is the purpose of SilentShred technology, designed to reduce noise in shared workspaces. Between two sessions, the machine switches to sleep mode by itself.
Can you stop anyone accessing the documents during shredding?
Yes: the bin locks with a 4-digit PIN code, precisely to prevent access to the documents during shredding. The 68-litre pull-out bin therefore only opens with the code, even if the machine is running on its own in a room open to everyone.
Does it use power when not in use?
It switches to sleep mode by itself after a period without use, and it starts and stops electronically and automatically. No switch to flip day to day on a 31.8 kg machine.
How wide can the paper be, and how fast does it go through?
The entry width is 230 mm: an A4 sheet, 210 mm wide, goes in easily the normal way. The paper then runs through at 3 m/min, the pace of a professional machine rather than an occasional-use shredder.
How much space and handling should you plan for to install the AutoMax 350C?
Allow for 31.8 kg and 81.4 × 39 × 57.8 cm: it is a stationary machine, to be installed straight away in its permanent location. Leave the clearance needed to pull out the 68-litre bin each time you empty it.
