Frequently asked questions about this product
Can this shredder run all day?
Yes: it is rated for continuous operation, with no rest period. It is a departmental model, sized for more than ten users.
How many sheets does this Powershred 485Ci take at once?
32 sheets per pass, through a 405 mm slot — wide enough to feed folded A3 documents or a thick stack without splitting it.
Does this shredder jam when the stack is too thick?
No: it is 100% jam-proof and detects the thickness of the inserted stack before starting. It therefore refuses an oversized stack rather than jamming on it.
Do the cutting cylinders of this shredder need oiling?
No: it features automatic oiling of the cutting cylinders. This is the maintenance users forget most often, and the one that wears out the blades.
Does this shredder stop if a hand gets close?
Yes: SafeSense technology triggers a stop as soon as a hand approaches the slot — essential on a machine this size installed in a busy area.
What is the bin capacity of this Powershred 485Ci?
132 litres, in a pull-out bin with a bin-full indicator. The machine is mounted on castors, which is no luxury given its 81.19 kg.
What does this 485Ci shredder's cut produce?
4 × 30 mm particles, cross-cut, which is DIN P-4 security level. It also shreds staples, paper clips, bank cards and CDs.
Is this Fellowes Powershred 485Ci shredder new and under warranty?
Yes, it is a new Fellowes shredder, the Powershred 485Ci, a departmental model 946 mm high, 635 wide and 508 deep. The invoice serves as the warranty document, for a period of 1 year.
