Why does the Canon DR-C225 II take up so little space?
Thanks to its vertical J-shaped paper path: sheets enter and exit from the top instead of passing right through the device. As a result, the scanner can sit against a wall and occupies just 300 x 156 mm with the tray closed.
How much space does the Canon DR-C225 II need in operation?
300 x 235 x 339 mm with the tray open, compared with 300 x 156 x 220 mm once closed. The first figure is the one to measure on your desk: at rest it all but disappears, in use it nearly doubles in depth.
How many sheets does the Canon DR-C225 II feeder hold?
45 sheets (A4, 80 g/m²), for a stated duty cycle of 1,000 to 2,500 scans per day. It is sized for a small office: perfect for handling daily mail, below what a large-scale archiving project requires.
Can the Canon DR-C225 II scan A3?
Yes, using folio mode: the A3 document is folded in half, fed through the feeder, and the two halves are merged back into one image. It also accepts long documents up to 3 metres and embossed plastic cards.
How fast is the Canon DR-C225 II scanner?
25 pages/min and 50 images/min in A4 at 200 dpi, in black and white as well as in colour. Duplex scanning is done in a single pass: both sides are read simultaneously, without turning the stack over.
What software comes with the Canon DR-C225 II?
CaptureOnTouch, which launches when the tray is opened, eCopy PDF Pro Office and Cardiris for business cards. The Pro version of eCopy handles workflows and file encryption.
Does the Canon DR-C225 II detect double-fed sheets?
Yes, by ultrasound: the sensor detects two sheets fed together and stops the scan. Without this detection, a missing page is only discovered when the archived file is reviewed, often too late.
Does the Canon DR-C225 II connect to a network?
No: it connects to a computer via Hi-Speed USB 2.0, USB 3.0 compatible, and has neither Ethernet nor Wi-Fi. It is a desktop scanner, to be installed next to the computer that will process the documents.
Can a flatbed scanner be added to the Canon DR-C225 II?
Yes, an A4 or A3 flatbed scanner unit is available as an option. This lets you handle a bound book or a fragile document that the feeder would not accept — without changing machines.
