Does this SanDisk SSD survive a drop?
It is rated protected against drops of up to 3 metres, with a silicone outer shell. With no moving parts, it also shrugs off the vibrations that put a platter drive at risk.
Is this SanDisk Extreme drive vulnerable to rain and dust?
No: it is IP65 certified, water- and dust-resistant, and rated X-ray resistant — airport security checks are no threat to it.
Can I password-protect my files on this SSD?
Yes: it has 256-bit AES hardware encryption with password protection. Hardware encryption does not weigh on performance, unlike software encryption.
What speed does this SanDisk Extreme 2 TB reach?
1,050 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write, over a USB 3.2 Gen 2 bus with NVMe memory. You need a 10 Gbps USB port at the other end to reach these figures.
Can I connect this SSD to my phone?
Yes: it is stated to be compatible with smartphones that have a USB-C port, as its own connector is USB-C. Enough to offload videos without going through a computer.
Does this SSD fit in a jacket pocket?
Yes: 8.95 mm thick, and a carabiner lets you attach it to a belt, a bag loop or a harness. It does not need to be stored flat.
