Frequently asked questions about this product
Is this reference a single module or a kit of two?
It is a single 8 GB module, reference AD5S48008G-S. If your laptop has two SO-DIMM slots, you can plan for two; if it has only one, this module will replace the one already installed. As the whole range shares the same frequency, adding memory later remains simple.
Are there other capacities in this range if 8 GB is no longer enough?
Yes: ADATA's DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM series comes in 8, 16 and 32 GB (references AD5S480016G-S and AD5S480032G-S), all at the same 4,800 MT/s frequency and the same voltage. You can therefore start with 8 GB today, then add to it or replace it with a higher capacity without changing range or speed.
Will it fit in my laptop?
It is a 262-pin DDR5 SO-DIMM: it installs in a laptop whose memory slots are DDR5, and supports 12th Gen Intel Core processors. So check that your machine is designed for DDR5.
What does DDR5 really change compared with DDR4?
Frequency first: 4,800 MT/s versus a maximum of 3,200 MT/s for DDR4, with a CAS latency of 40. Architecture next: for the same area, the module has twice as many bank groups, which allows higher capacities and more bandwidth per processor core.
Will it run hot or drain my laptop's battery?
It runs at 1.1 V, which means 8% energy savings compared with DDR4, and handles a range of 0 to 85 °C, which comfortably covers the inside of a laptop in summer. It also has a built-in power management IC (PMIC) that improves power stability.
Does this memory module correct memory errors?
Yes: it features on-die error correction (on-die ECC), which detects and corrects in real time errors occurring inside the module. Combined with the built-in power management IC, it aims for greater system stability — useful if your machine falters under heavy load.
Is the ADATA DDR5-4800 memory module new and under warranty?
Yes: the module is new and genuine, reference AD5S48008G-S (EAN 4711085936561), supplied with its invoice, which serves as the 1-year warranty document. Full specifications are in the ADATA datasheet (PDF).
Bandwidth per core up and consumption down: 1.1 V, around 8% less than DDR4, with an on-board PMIC. On-die error correction, on recent AMD as well as Intel laptops.
Compliant with the JEDEC and RoHS standards, with a carefully built circuit board for signal stability. Short 260-pin format, intended for 8th to 10th generation Intel Core and Ryzen ZEN 2 and 3.
The connector notch sits differently from that of DDR4: the module only fits a DDR5 motherboard. PMIC visible in the centre, 1.1 V supply and on-die error correction.
Careful cooling: a 42 mm tall black aluminium heat spreader, to be measured before sliding it under a large CPU cooler. XMP 2.0 profile on Intel, Ryzen support on AMD, for 25600 MB/s of bandwidth.
Bandwidth per core up and consumption down: 1.1 V, around 8% less than DDR4, with an on-board PMIC. On-die error correction, on recent AMD as well as Intel laptops.
