Are the cables supplied so you can connect the monitor straight away?
Yes, both of them: the box contains the monitor, the power cable, an HDMI cable and a DisplayPort cable, 1.5 m long. So there is nothing extra to buy: all that is left is to choose between the two inputs.
Does the Odyssey G55C have built-in speakers?
No, there are no built-in speakers. Sound has to go through your speakers or a headset: the monitor's headphone jack is its only audio output. So make sure you have an audio setup if your PC does not already have one.
Can it be mounted on a wall or on a monitor arm?
Yes, the mounting uses the VESA 75 × 75 mm format: check that your mount or arm is designed for this hole spacing. With the stand removed, the monitor weighs just 3.7 kg and measures 614.6 × 382.8 × 120 mm.
Is the G55C stand height-adjustable?
No. The stand, a simple type, offers tilt only, from −2° to +18°: no height adjustment, no pivot and no swivel. If you need to raise the screen to eye level, use a VESA 75 × 75 arm: the monitor weighs 4.1 kg assembled and 3.7 kg with the stand removed.
Is the power supply built in, or is there an external power brick to find room for?
The monitor runs on an external AC adapter (100 to 240 V): allow room for the brick under the desk or behind the furniture, plus an extra cable run. In return, the monitor stays slim — 120 mm deep with the stand removed, for 3.7 kg.
How much power does this 27-inch monitor use, and what is its energy class?
26 W in normal use, 40 W maximum, 0.5 W in standby and 0.3 W when switched off, for a declared annual consumption of 38 kWh. Its energy efficiency class is F. An Eco picture mode and a switch-off timer (Off Timer Plus) are available.
Beyond the 165 Hz, what gaming features does the G55C offer?
The menu includes Black Equalizer, Low Input Lag Mode, Virtual AIM Point, Refresh Rate Optimizer and the Super Arena Gaming UX interface. On top of that come dedicated RPG, RTS, FPS and Sports picture modes.
Is the G55C FreeSync or G-Sync certified?
It is AMD FreeSync certified: with a Radeon card, the monitor and the graphics card stay in sync and screen tearing disappears. It is not G-Sync certified, nor VESA Adaptive-Sync. The refresh rate goes up to 165 Hz in QHD, with a 1 ms MPRT response time.
Is it comfortable for long gaming or work sessions?
Two features help: Eye Saver mode, which limits blue light emission, and the flicker-free (Flicker Free) panel. The 1000R curvature wraps around your peripheral vision, with 178° viewing angles both horizontally and vertically.
How good is HDR10 on this monitor?
The G55C decodes HDR10 — not HDR10+ — with a brightness of 300 cd/m² and the 2,500:1 static contrast of its VA panel, which deepens blacks. Enough to gain image depth and a wider range of colours.
How many video inputs are there, and can a PC and a console stay connected?
Yes: 1 DisplayPort 1.2 and 1 HDMI (version 2) let you keep two sources permanently connected, and the Auto Source Switch+ feature switches automatically from one source to the other. Both inputs support HDCP 2.2.
How much space does it take up on a desk once assembled?
616.6 × 477.4 × 272.6 mm and 4.1 kg with its stand. Note the 27 cm depth: make sure your desk is deep enough to keep some distance from the curved screen. The box itself measures 679 × 188 × 438 mm and weighs 6 kg.
