How long will my PC really last on this UPS?
Allow about 5 minutes at 180 W (half load) and only 1 minute at 252 W. This UPS is not made for carrying on working during the power cut, but for saving your work and shutting down the workstation properly. Its usable power tops out at 360 W for 700 VA.
Does the APC BVX700 UPS deliver a pure sine wave?
No. On battery, the waveform is a stepped approximation to a sine wave — a pseudo-sine wave, not a pure sine wave. Worth checking if your equipment strictly requires a sine wave.
Can the USB port be used to control the UPS and shut down the PC automatically?
No: it is a USB charging port, designed to recharge a smartphone or a small device. It does not establish a data link with the computer. So someone will need to be present to shut down the workstation during the minutes of runtime available.
Is the battery replaceable, and what is its reference?
Yes: the 12 V / 7.0 Ah sealed lead-acid battery is stated to be user-replaceable, under the reference APCRBC110. Its stated service life is 2 to 3 years — after which you replace the battery, not the UPS.

Yes, that is the point of the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) in this line-interactive topology: it corrects deviations between 170 and 280 V without drawing on the battery, and only switches to battery in the event of an outright power cut. Transfer time is 6 ms at half load, 10 ms at most.
How long does it take to fully recharge the battery after a power cut?
8 hours of recharging are stated to regain the full runtime of the 12 V / 7.0 Ah battery, which starts recharging as soon as mains power returns. After a series of closely spaced power cuts, the UPS may therefore offer a shorter runtime than expected: it needs time to recover.
Do I need an adapter to plug my devices into the UPS?
No: it offers two Schuko (CEE 7/3) sockets, compatible with standard French plugs, so you plug in directly. The two outputs are identical — you can connect, for example, the tower unit and its monitor. The input cable, also Schuko, is 1.2 m long: make sure a wall socket is within reach.
