Does the BV650I-GR output a pure sine wave when it switches to battery?
No: the output waveform is an approximated sine wave, i.e. a signal rebuilt in steps rather than a genuine sine wave. If your equipment explicitly requires a pure sine wave, choose a model that states it in black and white.
Are all four outlets battery-backed?
Yes, all four Schuko CEE 7 outlets are powered by the battery during a power cut: none is reserved for surge protection only. Input is via a 1.50 m Schuko CEE 7/7P cord permanently attached to the unit.
Can this UPS be connected to the PC for automatic shutdown?
No, this model has no USB port, so it cannot trigger the computer's shutdown. It warns you with a status LED and three distinct audible alarms — switch to battery, low battery threshold, and a continuous alarm in the event of overload. Automatic shutdown requires a model with a communication port.
What exactly does the Easy UPS BV's AVR regulator correct?
It brings the input voltage back to the correct value without starting the battery, over a range of 170 to 280 V. As long as the mains stays within this window, the battery does not discharge: it stays full and available for real power cuts, which is the whole point of a line-interactive UPS on an unstable grid.
How long does it take to switch to battery during a power cut?
6 milliseconds at half load, 10 milliseconds maximum. This is the time during which the output is not powered, at the precise moment the mains fails and the UPS takes over.
How long does it take to recharge the battery after a power cut?
About 8 hours for a full recharge. The battery is a 12 V / 7 Ah sealed lead-acid unit, rated for a service life of 3 to 5 years — it is the unit's wear part, and the point at which to plan its replacement.
How much space does the UPS take up, and can it be rack-mounted?
16.5 cm wide, 30.5 cm deep and 9.25 cm high, weighing 4.5 kg. This low form factor slips under a monitor or behind the desktop tower. However, it is not rack-mountable: it is a tower model, for a workstation.
How much surge energy does the built-in surge protector absorb?
156 joules, on a unit compliant with EN/IEC 62040-1 and 62040-2 and CE certified. The enclosure's protection rating is IP20: protected against solid objects, but with no water resistance whatsoever — install it in a dry place, away from splashes.
What is in the BV650I-GR box?
The UPS and its user manual. Since the four outlets are Schuko, you plug your own devices' cords straight in, and the 1.50 m power cord connects the UPS to the wall socket.
Under what conditions can this UPS be installed, and is it noisy?
Between 0 and 40 °C and up to 90% relative humidity, with a stated noise level of 40 dBA. At this level, the unit can be heard in a quiet room: place it on the floor or away from the workstation rather than next to the monitor.
How much load can you really put on a 650 VA unit?
375 W, despite the 650 VA shown. It is the wattage that counts: add up the consumption of the computer, the monitor and the internet box, and stay below this ceiling. Above it, the UPS sounds its overload alarm continuously.
Is the APC Easy UPS BV650I-GR new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 2 years covering repair or replacement. The datasheet lists all the electrical and environmental specifications.
