Does the UCM6302A handle 500 users or the 1,500 advertised for the UCM6300 series?
500 users and 75 concurrent calls in G.711, including 75 in SRTP, with 5 conference rooms of up to 75 participants. The 1,500 users apply to the UCM6308A, at the top of the UCM6300 series.
How many analogue phones and PSTN lines can be connected to the UCM6302A?
2 FXS ports (RJ11) for analogue phones and 2 FXO ports (RJ11) for carrier (PSTN) lines. You can therefore keep two landlines and two existing analogue phones; beyond that, phones connect over IP.
What happens to calls during a power cut at the office?
All FXS and FXO ports have power-failover emergency lines in the event of a power cut. The unit itself runs on 12 V DC from a universal power adapter rated 100 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz: the IP side of the phone system still depends on your electrical supply.
Does the UCM6302A do video conferencing?
It is a PBX from the UCM6300 audio series: it supports voice and fax codecs (Opus, G.711 A-law/U-law, G.722, G.722.1/1C, G.723.1, G.726-32, G.729A/B, iLBC, GSM, T.38) and a platform for instant messaging, audio conferencing and web meetings, accessible from computers, mobile devices and SIP phones.
Can the UCM6302A be rack-mounted, and can it cope with a room without air conditioning?
No, it is not rack-mountable: it is designed for wall or desktop mounting, measuring 270 × 175 × 36 mm and weighing 725 g (1,221 g packaged). It operates from 0 to 45 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity, non-condensing: a ventilated room is fine, a hot spot above 45 °C is not.
Do you need to add a router or a switch to install the UCM6302A?
It has three auto-sensing Gigabit RJ45 ports with switched, routed or dual mode, plus PoE+ and a NAT router: it routes and switches by itself. With three ports, a switch is still needed to connect a fleet of phones. QoS is handled at layer 2 (802.1Q, 802.1p) and layer 3 (ToS, DiffServ, MPLS).
Can the auto attendant greet callers in Arabic and French?
Yes. Interactive responses and voice prompts can be customised in Arabic, French, English and a dozen other languages, with a customisable language pack covering all the others. The system supports up to five IVR layers, and the web administration interface is also available in French.
Is the Wave app for remote working a paid app?
No, Wave is free: Windows 10+, macOS 10+, Chrome and Firefox browsers, Android and iOS, over Wi-Fi as well as 2G/3G/4G. Each user makes calls with a SIP account on the PBX, checks voicemail and call history, chats and joins meetings. From outside the office, UCM RemoteConnect provides automatic NAT firewall traversal (AWS, 99% reliability).
Will call quality hold up on an unstable Internet connection?
The UCM6302A withstands packet loss of up to 50%, with a dynamic jitter buffer, NetEQ, FEC 2.0 and carrier-grade 128 ms echo cancellation. The full-band Opus codec and 802.1p/DiffServ QoS give voice priority on your network.
How do you register dozens of Grandstream IP phones without configuring them one by one?
ZeroConfig auto-provisioning detects Grandstream endpoints automatically (mDNS multicast, DHCP option 66), and mass provisioning uses an AES-encrypted XML file. The GDMS cloud portal, free of charge, centralises configuration, firmware updates, monitoring and troubleshooting, per device or in batches (site, group, model).
Can the UCM6302A be linked to a CRM or to hotel management software?
Yes, through a comprehensive API open to third-party platforms, including CRM and hotel PMS, with the system built on Asterisk version 16. Built-in features include wake-up calls, voicemail, ring groups and call queues with automatic call distribution (ACD) based on skills, availability or workload.
Can you still send and receive faxes with the UCM6302A?
Yes, the T.38 protocol is supported, and the fax-to-email and voicemail-to-email features deliver documents and messages straight to a mailbox. The 2 FXS ports accept analogue equipment, and the 2 FXO ports carrier lines.
What protection is there against call eavesdropping and phone system hacking?
Secure boot, a unique certificate per device and a random default password protect calls and accounts. Media streams and administration rely on SRTP, TLS, HTTPS, SSH and 802.1X, with OpenVPN and AES-encrypted XML provisioning. GDMS adds end-to-end TLS encryption, two-factor authentication and two-way certificate verification.
Is the Grandstream UCM6302A new, and how long is the warranty?
