Does the Asus VA249HG's 120 Hz also work on the VGA input?
No: over HDMI, the vertical range runs from 48 to 120 Hz, whereas over VGA it stops at 75 Hz. To take advantage of 120 Hz and Adaptive-Sync technology, you therefore need to connect the computer to the HDMI 1.4 port.
Can two computers be connected to the VA249HG at the same time?
Yes: the HDMI and VGA ports let you connect a desktop and a laptop simultaneously, then switch from one to the other from the monitor's menu. This is also what lets you give a second life to a machine without a digital output.
How do you get sound with the Asus VA249HG monitor?
The monitor has a PC audio input and a headphone jack: the computer's sound passes through the monitor and comes out in your headphones, plugged directly into it. No more reaching around the tower to swap headphones.
Is the VA249HG suited to work as well as casual gaming?
That is exactly how it is positioned: a 23.8-inch IPS panel covering 99% of the sRGB space, 300 cd/m², 3000:1 contrast and 178° viewing angles, with 120 Hz and Adaptive-Sync, which eliminate screen tearing. Is the VA249HG stand height-adjustable?
No: only the tilt is adjustable, from -5° to +23°, with no height adjustment or rotation to portrait mode. The monitor remains compatible with wall mounting, and weighs only 3.2 kg with its stand, 2.8 kg without.
What is the recess at the front of this Asus monitor's stand for?
For holding a phone, business cards or small items so they are not left lying around on the desk. The box is also designed to be cut out into a storage box, and includes a foldable phone holder.
Can the monitor be adjusted without using the buttons on the chassis?
Yes, with the ASUS DisplayWidget Center app: the monitor settings are changed with the mouse from the computer, instead of navigating the menu with the buttons located behind the panel.
Does the VA249HG protect your eyes during long sessions?
