Does the Asus VA259HGA's 120 Hz work over the VGA input?
No: over HDMI, the vertical range runs from 48 to 120 Hz; over VGA, it stops at 75 Hz. To take advantage of 120 Hz and the variable refresh rate, you therefore need to connect the computer to the HDMI port. The HDMI cable is included in the box.
My laptop only has a USB-C output: can I use the VA259HGA?
The picture comes in through HDMI or VGA. From a laptop whose only video output is USB-C, you therefore need a USB-C to HDMI adapter, first checking that this USB-C port supports video on your machine.
Can two computers stay connected to the VA259HGA?
Yes: the HDMI and VGA inputs let you connect a desktop and a laptop at the same time, then switch from one to the other from the monitor's menu. This is also what lets you reuse an older machine that has no digital output.
How do I connect headphones to the Asus VA259HGA monitor?
The monitor has a PC audio input and an earphone jack: the computer's sound passes through it and comes out in the headphones plugged into the monitor, within easy reach. No more reaching for the jack at the back of the tower.
How good are the VA259HGA's contrast and colours?
Its IPS panel delivers 300 cd/m² with a typical contrast ratio of 1500:1, a claimed maximum of 3000:1 and 178° viewing angles on both axes. With no bezel on the sides, it lends itself well to a dual-monitor setup.
Is the VA259HGA's stand height-adjustable?
No: only the tilt is adjustable, from -5° to +23°, with no height adjustment or rotation to portrait mode. The monitor can still be wall-mounted via VESA, and weighs only 3.20 kg with its stand — 2.40 kg without.
What does this monitor's ASUS Power Sync feature do?
It switches the monitor and the device connected over HDMI on and off at the same time, in a single action. The feature works through the HDMI input and can be customised from the MyASUS app with a compatible ASUS NUC mini PC.
What display aids does the VA259HGA offer?
