Does 100 Hz work on both of the monitor's inputs?
No: 100 Hz is only reached over HDMI, with a range of 48 to 100 Hz. On the VGA input, the monitor tops out at 75 Hz. To enjoy the advertised smoothness, it is therefore the HDMI cable — supplied in the box — that you need to use.
Does the 1 ms response time reflect the panel's real latency?
This is the 1 ms figure measured in VRB mode; the panel's standard measurement is 4 ms GtG. The monitor also supports AMD FreeSync over HDMI, which aligns the refresh rate with the graphics card and eliminates screen tearing.
Is the panel matte or glossy?
Matte. It is a matte LED IPS panel, complemented by Acer ComfyView treatment: reflections from a window or a ceiling light are greatly reduced. The 178°/178° viewing angles keep colours stable, even from the side, with 250 cd/m² and a native contrast ratio of 1,000:1.
Does the Acer KA272E have built-in speakers?
No. Connectivity is limited to 1 × HDMI 1.4 and 1 × VGA: sound has to come from your computer, headphones or separate speakers.
Which cables are supplied in the box?
The box contains the monitor, an HDMI cable and a power cord with a European plug, ready to use on Moroccan mains sockets. If you plan to use the VGA input, get your own VGA cable. The monitor weighs 5.26 kg on its stand, with a gross weight of 6.56 kg at delivery.
Is the stand height-adjustable, and can the monitor be wall-mounted?
The stand only offers tilt, from −5° to +15°: no height adjustment, no swivel. The monitor is, however, VESA 100 × 100 compatible and weighs only 4.34 kg without its stand, so you can use an articulated arm; a Kensington slot is provided for an anti-theft lock.
On 27 inches, is Full HD resolution still sharp enough?
It gives 82 pixels per inch, for a pixel pitch of 0.311 mm. In practice, characters are large and legible without Windows scaling: this format is cut out for office work and web browsing, at a normal desk viewing distance.
Can you work on photos or graphic design with it?
The panel covers 99% of the sRGB space and displays 16.7 million colours, produced with 6-bit + FRC rather than native 8-bit. Enough for everyday image editing, layout and web work, bearing in mind that the colour depth is simulated. The IPS panel keeps its colours at 178°/178°.
Is it comfortable for long days in front of the screen?
Acer equips it with its VisionCare 1.0 package: BlueLightShield to reduce blue light, Flicker-Less against backlight flicker, low-brightness dimming and the matte ComfyView treatment. It is also MPRII certified.
How much power does this 27-inch monitor consume?
26 W in operation, 0.5 W in standby and 0.3 W when off, for an energy efficiency class of E. It can stay on for a full working day, and remain plugged in permanently, without any noticeable extra cost.
Is the Acer KA272E monitor new and under warranty?
Yes: it is new, genuine and sealed in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. Full specifications are given in the Acer datasheet (PDF).
