A table stand
that filters desk knocks.
The 23230 holds a microphone 152 mm above the desk, on a 137 mm steel trilobular base. A rubber ring under the base filters footstep noise and knocks transmitted by the table, and gives a footing that does not slip.
Assembled by hand, in three moves
The threaded bolt goes through the underside of the base, the tube screws onto it by hand, then the knurled lock nut fixes the orientation of the microphone. The thread is 3/8" and carries a microphone of up to 1 kg as a centred load; K&M reserves it for microphones and rules it out for a telescopic boom.
For a clip with a 5/8" female thread, add a K&M 217 thread adapter; to adjust the height, choose the K&M 23320 stand, from 235 to 365 mm.

Is the height of the K&M 23230 adjustable?
No: the tube is fixed and the stand is 152 mm high, a height designed for a microphone standing on a desk or table. For an adjustable height on a table, the K&M 23320 goes from 235 to 365 mm thanks to its sliding tube.
Which microphones does the 23230 table stand accept?
A microphone mounted on a clip with a 3/8" thread, up to 1 kg as a centred load. K&M reserves it for microphones and states that it is not suitable for a telescopic boom; a clip with a 5/8" thread is fitted with the K&M 217 thread adapter.
What is the rubber ring under the base for?
It isolates the microphone from the table: according to K&M, it filters footstep noise, reduces the transmission of unwanted sounds and gives a non-slip footing. It is also kept as free of plasticisers as possible, although K&M cannot rule out a mark on every surface.
Are tools needed to assemble the K&M 23230?
No. The threaded bolt goes through the underside of the base, the tube screws onto it by hand, then the knurled lock nut is screwed onto the top of the tube to lock the orientation of the microphone. Dismantling is done in reverse order.
What is the stand made of?
The base and the tube are made of steel with a black powder coating, the threaded bolt of zinc-plated steel, the lock nut of black aluminium and the end caps of TPE. The whole weighs 0.75 kg, enough to stay in place under a vocal microphone.
