The right thread
between the clip and the stand.

The 217 is an 11 g zinc-plated steel thread adapter. It screws into a microphone clip or holder with a 5/8"-27 female thread and gives it a 3/8" female thread, that of microphone stands with a 3/8" screw.

When to use it

When the stand has a 3/8" screw and the microphone clip has a 5/8" female thread. The adapter screws by hand into the clip thanks to its knurled edge, then the whole screws onto the stand. It only works that way round: it does not fit a 3/8" clip on a 5/8" screw.

Leave the adapter screwed into the clip: it then fits directly on all your stands with a 3/8" screw, such as the K&M 27105, 23230 or 23320.

Which way round does the K&M 217 adapter work?
It turns a 5/8" clip into a 3/8" clip: its 5/8"-27 male part screws into the clip, and its 3/8" female thread then takes the screw of a microphone stand with a 3/8" thread.
When is this adapter needed?
When the microphone clip or holder has a 5/8" female thread and the stand has a 3/8" screw, such as the K&M 27105, 23230 and 23320 stands in their 3/8" version. The adapter then stays screwed into the clip.
Does the 217 adapter suit a stand with a 5/8 inch screw?
Not that way round: its outer thread is a 5/8" male and its inner thread a 3/8" female. It is used to fit a 5/8" clip on a 3/8" stand screw, not a 3/8" clip on a 5/8" screw.
What material is it made of?
Zinc-plated steel, for a weight of 11 g. Its knurled edge, visible on the manufacturer's photo, can be gripped between the fingers to screw or unscrew it by hand.
