This is not a marketing subtlety but a change of generation: Canon renewed its G range, and the new machines have their own ink. The bottles look alike, the model names too, and the two series sit side by side on the shelf.
The safe marker is the machine's full name, printed on the front — not what you remember of it. When in doubt, the part number is on the bottle you are emptying: it does not lie. Check before ordering rather than after pouring.
The G3420 prints, copies and scans over Wi-Fi, at 9.1 pages per minute. It has an LCD screen that Epson's L3210 lacks, and above all Wi-Fi: so it is often shared between several devices in the household, which speeds up consumption compared with a USB machine.
As on any tank printer, the rule that matters fits in one sentence: never print with an empty tank. The printhead is fixed and is cooled by the ink flowing through it.
No. The four tanks are independent and are refilled separately, as soon as the visible level approaches the lower mark. Black goes down faster than the colours in almost every use: it is the bottle to keep in reserve if you keep only one.
