Frequently asked questions about this product

What is the difference between the HP 963XL black and the standard 963 black?
The yield doubles: 2,000 pages for this 963XL (3JA30AE), versus 1,000 pages for the standard 963 black (3JA26AE), with the same dimensions of 119 × 36 × 126 mm. You replace the cartridge half as often.
Is this black cartridge enough to print in colour?
No, it supplies only black. The colours are separate references: 963XL cyan (3JA27AE), magenta (3JA28AE) and yellow (3JA29AE), rated at 1,600 pages each. Plan for them separately if your documents include colour.
Which printers does this 963XL cartridge fit?
The HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 and OfficeJet Pro 9020 all-in-ones. It was in fact on an OfficeJet Pro 9020 that the 2,000-page yield was measured. Before ordering, check for the 963 or 963XL marking on the cartridge you are removing.
Will I really print 2,000 pages with this cartridge?
The 2,000 pages are an average obtained according to the ISO/IEC 24711 standard, in continuous printing on an OfficeJet Pro 9020. The actual result varies greatly depending on what you print: everyday text lasts much longer than dense pages or graphics.
What should I do with the HP 963XL cartridge once it is empty?
It is taken back free of charge through the HP Planet Partners recycling programme, whose availability may vary. Genuine HP supplies are also designed to conserve resources and paper when printing.
Is the HP 963XL black cartridge original and under warranty?
Yes: a genuine HP 3JA30AE cartridge, new and in its original packaging, with an invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. HP warrants its cartridges and printheads free from defects in materials and workmanship over the period covered. The yields for the whole range are in the HP 963 datasheet (PDF).
