These cords fit any IEC female outlet or power inlet; the “locking” feature only works with APC AP8000 rack-mount PDUs or IT equipment with built-in locking outlets. The locking connectors reduce the risk of cords being accidentally disconnected and loads being dropped.

How many cords does this APC AP8714S kit contain?
Six cords, each 1.2 metres long, C19 to C20. This is rack packaging: you cable all the equipment connected to the same power strip in one go.
How does the locking on these APC cords work?
The connector locks mechanically to prevent accidental unplugging. Note: the feature only works with an APC AP8000 power strip or equipment fitted with locking outlets — elsewhere, the cord behaves like an ordinary cord.
What current do these cords handle?
16 amps maximum input. This is the rating expected on a C19/C20 connection, which is reserved for the most power-hungry equipment in a rack — blade servers, UPS units, storage chassis.
Do these cords fit all IEC sockets?
They fit all matching IEC female sockets and power inlets. Only the locking depends on the hardware at the other end: it engages only with equipment designed for it.
What is a locking cord for in a rack?
To avoid cutting power to a device during work on the equipment next to it. In a dense rack, a cord knocked loose while handling a network cable causes a production outage — that is the risk the locking removes.
